I spent a few hours yesterday with Tina Cooke at the Stourvale Stud. She has some fantastic foals this year by Ganemede out of mainly Ahmoun daughters or grandaughters. What a cross this has turned out to be. As usual Tina gets it right.
Of course, I have fallen in love with one of the colts. He immediately took my eye, scopey, typey, going grey and a mover. I wish I could have smuggled him into the car. She also has a 2 year old filly I could have spirited away. Unfortunatley I cannot have anymore. I suppose I shouldn't torture myself by going to see them but cannot help it as I enjoy Tina's friendship and of course, the foals.
I took some nice photos but they do not seem to have saved on the memory card but have saved in the camera itself. I must try to get them on to the computer when I have time. I hope it works as it ti the first tinme I have managed to take fairly good ones of her foals as they will not keep still.
And another! I've never met Tina but my first purebred, Ahmouna, was out of Gold Lucretia by Ahmoun who came to Oxfordshire from Tina's so I've always had a fascination for Tina's stock and stud. I'd love to visit there one day. Ahmouna was a wonderful ridden mare - great paces and a fantastic temperament. Taught several beginners so safely. Unfortunately she had to be retired far too early after being kicked by another too-feisty mare in the field.
