ah, thank you, I just wish I could take a ic when she is clean but as soon as I finish grooming her she rollsshe is my whole life, she is such a character, yes thankfully they seem to love it, but we have had to buy loads of sprinklers as the grass dies as it gets soo hot, but I always put hay in the field just in case they are not getting enough |

Oh I love Milly, and remember all your troubles and if i'm correct you had to leave her behind when you first moved to France till she was fit enough to travel. Must have been so awful for you, and makes you treasure even more every moment with her. |

Yes Goldenmane I did, when she first came home from surgery they had said that there was a risk of colic due to adhesions from surgery, and she could not be turned out because she was not allowed to run around or roll, so I would walk her 5 times each way round the paddocks every two hours, day and night, and the first six weeks were crucial, six weeks to the day I was so happy she had got through them okay....... the a freak accident broke her jaw, I nearly went crazy as had no sleep for six weeks walking her day and night and then breaking her jaw, so I had to feed her eights times a day with a mash as she could not graze or eat hay or feed, so my friend who takes in old horses and nurses them to health took her when it was over the worst and she just needed time and she fed her eight times a day, it was awful......now look at her, I am so very proud of her. Thank you for remembering |

Thank you Acorn Arabians, yes it was because she was in the hosital for a week before they operated, she had over 400 diagnostic tests and they just could not find out what was causing it and she was in pain all the time, although they were very good to her, they loved her, one vetsaid, that she had never been particularly keen on Arabs as a breed before, but she said she had fallen in love with Mills and it had changed her thoughts on the breed as she did not realize that they were so sane!!!!! Milly bought her a huge bouquet of flowers when she came home to say Thank you |

Hi Gerri, isnt it awful that even professionals have this biased opinion of our lovely breed? Im so glad she made it and was also a an ambassador for the breed. Clever girl Milly buying flowers for the vet...... Helen |

You have done wonderfully well with her, she looks very happy. I must say it looks absolutely idyllic where you live.
I wanted to move to France (and even found somewhere) then my OH read about the 'mouche plats' and decided his princess of a horse wouldn't be able to cope (honestly she has a hide like a rhino but there we are).

Its so lovely to read the comments you have made about Milly and that you all appreciate what a special girl she is honestly it makes me go all teary as I cannot express to you how gentle and loving she is must admit I wanted to get the next lorry back when I heard about the ticks etc but I buy a spray and spray them more than I am supposed to, but when you weigh up what could happen and has happened to horses in the UK its a chance you take, I met a girl years ago that had had its throat cut in its own stable that was just outside her back door, the horse survived.......just, but I have not heard of anything like that here, thank God and it is idyllic for me and my horses, who are not so young anymore, it is perfect........away from the madding crowd, although I really miss the showing, I ache for that, I love showing and \i can still run despite the evil weed (cigarettes that is) and Milly sparks up the minute she is asked, so she misses it too maybe I can buy a lorry with living and drive back for the shows but scared to put her through the journey, I desperately want to ride her again but I am afraid that I will hurt her or make her ill again and no matter how many times people tell me I am being silly I am too scared to risk it |
