A farmer has just called me, he needs some help with his growing population of farm cats.

He believes there are pregnant mums and there is one set of kittens, he thinks about 3 weeks???

He lives in Kent DA13, I live in Romford so it is impossible for me to do this alone.

I need someone who can trap, neuter and return around five of them, but I will help to get the pregnant mums and the kittens into good rescue centres. If there is a local group that can take care of the lot of course this would be even better. But I can help with relocating them.

I did ask him to keep five but he was hesitant about that. However, if they are five males who cannot breed I know he will find it a lot easier and one of the workers feeds them so I am sure they are okay.

We need to stop the breeding and the interbreeding that will go on if we leave this.

I am sure we can get vouchers from the C4 scheme as it is a feral colony.

CAN ANYONE HELP, PLEASE......

I'm sure his local branch of the Cat Protection League would be happy to assist.

Wish I was closer, I'd willingly help. However I'm in Shropshire so can't Definitely ask the local Cats Protection, also any smaller local at charities may be able to help with traps and perhaps the cost of neutering.

5 neutered cats would be a much better bet for him Also if he doesn't want to put meat out for them he can buy huge bags of own-brand biscuits fairly cheaply which will help feed them (as long as they have adequate access to water) - one farm I rented at used to feed the big bags of biscuits and also had a freezer full of the pigeons they shot, specially for the cats! Quite gross, but cheap cat food!!

I think it may be worth you or your friend, ringing the Celia Hammond Animal Trust as they specialise in feral cats. Their no. is 0208 694 6545 or 07768 122844. They cover (as far as I can make out) Kent, Surrey, Sussex and Essex. Please try to avoid the RSPCA as they don't seem to be bothered with feral cats, and would rather put them all down than make the effort to find them new homes, that's what was going to happen to Mork and Mindy at the farm. It's only that my friends knew that the cats were going to be trapped (running feral in someones overgrown garden) and they asked to be allowed to take in 2 of the youngest cats, that they were saved.

Hi, only just saw this, there is an amazing organisation based in Sussex (next to Kent) that I know rescues feral cats from Ireland, they also take in allsorts and have them living at a beautiful country house in the lap of luxury with a vet attending constantly
