Hi,
I'm scouring the market for a bit for my double bridle, I started looking at pelhams because I thought two bits might be too much.

What has everyone else's experiances been here?

He's a very polite gelding hacked out in a sheepskin padded Dr Cooks so I don't need anything severe.

My Beautiful, my beautiful,
That standeth meekly by,
With proudly arched and glossy neck,
With deep and fiery eye...

What snaffle does he go well in as I would try to get the same mouthpeice for the Pelham Think it's going to be trial and error, some like jointed, some lozenge, some straight, although, where possible I would try to stick with bits that come in thinner diameters i.e. NS you can buy 14mm or 16mm, so I always buy 14mm

I have the same problem with Dulciya - small mouth, fat tongue and fleshy lips! I agree with Pasha - NS bits seem to fit my girl best (also use a Myler hanging cheek as well as the curved shape works well with the fleshy lips!)

The NS ones look very good but I seem to only be able to find them in 16 & 18mm.

Do you think this is too thin? It's a 10mm pony version...

He has got a dinky mush!
I think that maybe a bit bank might be the answer here so I can trial it...

Thanks for the advice!

No not if it is wide enough - as a general rule you need to go 1/4 to 1/2 inch bigger in jointed bits i.e. Shesk wears a 5" straight bar, but 5.5" jointed. The NS Tranz Lozenge i'm using on him is 5.25" which fits Pasha but could do with being a little bit bigger on Shesk so going to have to invest in a new one!

Also, have heard Shop4Bits can take ages to deliver!

If you go onto the Neue Schule website you can see the full range and the sizes they come in - think you can order direct from them too!

Thank you!

Took a chance with Shop4Bits... I'm in no mad rush. Did it over the phone and the girl said she'd send it out tomorrow morning.

Did look at the NS website first though. Oddly they only had that bit up to a 4.3/4 and it was £10 more expensive! Madness! It did tell me more about it though so thanks.

Fingers crossed!
