What a week of up's and downs.....foals are born our section a pony was PTS yesterday and at 3 am this morning some lowlife broke into Adam's room at Uni and stole his brand new laptop, his Tv, Xbox inc 12 games, dvds and his mobile. He's been doing all nighters getting all his work finished for the end of term next friday so he left his room for 20 mins to see his girlfriend and they broke through the window they must've been watching him. I think my nfu house insurance will cover a % of it but only a small % but all his work is on the laptop I've told him to go into Uni tomorrow and ask for an extension and hopefully they'll be kind. I can't believe this has happened people have no regard for other peoples things. They'll get sod all for the laptop compared to what it is actually worth and I'd happily pay to get it back to give Ad piece of mind. It's unnerved all the kids in the accomodation block just hope no one else has £1500 of stuff stolen !!!! Barstools !!!!!

That is really awful. I was insured with the NFU in the UK, and when my yard was broken into and I was absolutely cleared out from trailer to headcollars - NFU paid up for all items except the trailer on my house insurance. I hope they're as good for you. I feel really bad for Adam though - all that work...... ****s! |

Oh how awful for your son. Hopefully the items can be replaced but to have to do all that work again must be so disappointing/frustrating for him.
Sorry, too, for your pony.... |

Doesn't it make you angry; this sort of low-life just has no idea what it's like to work for what you want/need. I feel SO sorry for your son, all that hard work, I know my son would be absolutely distraught.
I really hope the tutors can help him.
As geegee says; sorry about your little pony too - you really are having an awful time |

Poor Adam - how flipping frustrating after all that hard work. to the lowlives. A laptop can be replaced, but pure hardwork can't. ((((Hugs)))) to Adam, he must be feeling so pee'd off and angry, fingers crossed the tutors will give him the extension he deserves.
So sorry about the pony, RIP little one. |

Thank you for the messages they do help, it's nice to get abit of support when you feel you are drowning !! It couldn't have happened at a worse time for Adam, he was begining to get very stressed about the amount of work he still had to do and the quality of work he's finished. He rang last night very down questioning what he was doing it all for, why he was living in a hell hole !! Everything can be replaced and I'm relieved he didn't walk in on them because in this day and age it doesn't bear thinking what they would've done. I think they must've been disturbed as things in his cupboard/drawers weren't taken. He really appreciates home now and all its surrounding !!
Minty pony had had a nice life. She was 'rescued' by Stuart (Henman) and became 'mother' to his SE filly who had been rejected by her real mother. Stuart gifted her to me and she took on the amazing role of nanny helping the maiden mares who struggled with motherhood by entertaining and caring for their foals and then looking after all the weanlings. She will be greatly missed here. She had the temperament of a saint which was shown when a very young Joe managed to crawl under her paddock fence right up to her legs and she just stood over him as she would a sleeping foal. She adored children and I'd hoped she would've enoyed a longer life here but age and just caught up with her and I certainly didn't want to see her suffer. She's laid to rest at the farm with Hagunia, Bint El Sanaa & Moynese.......quite a list of VIP's. |

Poor Adam - he must be really gutted Del He absolutely should get an extension - they'd be really out of order not to! Did he have any of it at all on a memory stick? Trying to replicate that amount of work is going to be a nightmare and so disheartening Minty has earned her place in with the Heavenly Girls the place won't be the same without her Get down there and sort them out if they don't support Adam - they can't take you on |

Some of it was saved Jude but the best of it was he'd left the room while it was printing out and they unplugged it mid-print !!! I did chuckle at that bit as Adam was ranting that you'd think they'd have let it finish printing !!! I also pointed out that it was a good job he has an old crappy printer cos that was too big and awkward to pinch !! Everyone is saying don't replace the laptop straight away as they are re-nown for waiting and returning to take the new one - sick isn't it. I've offered cash reward for any info leading to the discovery of the laptop.....you never know and they are going through the cctv today to see if they can see anyone loitering.
Waiting now to see what Uni have said - can't ring Ad cos they nicked his mobile too.......driving me nuts !! |

If they'd waited till it finished printing he'd have got back there and found them - not worth thinking about Yep - Kate had her Mac pinched from her flat in London - 3 times!!! every time she got a new one back they came Let's hope CCTV comes up with something - a bit pointless having it if it doesn't!!
You could always ring Registry and cause a bit of mayhem |

Some people are sick bas.....d's
As you say Delyth they will get very little gain for the theft but Adam has lost so much.....
Hopefully he will be able to recreate what he has lost and they get caught via something from the CCTV
Had my laptop stolen from a bar in London a few years ago, could see the guys on the CCTV although no clear pictures to follow up on! It is the real inconvenience which is the pain in the a.se!

It is worth Adam doing some big time publicity about his laptop having his uni work on it... the sister of someone at work had her laptop with her dissertation on it nicked and GOT IT BACK COMPLETE WITH UNDELETED FILES.
Unfortunately for Adam it is quite likely that another student stole it, so major posters around campuses, local pubs, student haunts etc might get it back, as they will try and sell it to another student (or in a pub). Worth a try anyway.
Hope he gets it back. |

That's a brilliant idea - loads of publicity all around the place would show up those shady thugs!! Any news on Ad's progress - it must be nearly as bad as marking |

Agree about the publicity; apart from anything else, someone who knows (and someone does!) who took it might tip someone else off. Anyone finding the laptop abandoned should be able to get it back to Adam. What a dreadful blow to him, especially under end of year circumstances. My daughter's doing her dissertation which is a database of information about a vicious virus. I MUST warn her not to take her eyes of her laptop!!!
Wish Adam well Delyth. And I'm so sorry about the loss of your pony. Why do these things all have to happen at once. Is there anything any of us can do to help?

Nothing as yet but have taken on the advice and posted flyers, put it all over facebook and general by word of mouth that we are offering a big cash rewards no questions asked. I struggled to do it all without using the 'f' word alot !! One of Ad's lecturers was great the other was an arse but at least he knows he's an arse now !! He's got until Friday to get everything in The same laptop was £200 more expensive than 6 weeks ago when I bought it, I thought we were in a recession !! |

He managed to get all his work submitted today so only 5 days late - fingers crossed !! He's in better spirits today with such a weight off his shoulders. He has a new phone (thankyou Orange!!) and the NFU have been brilliant so hopefully all will be replaced. However it has been a huge slap in the face for Ad, he's still not slept in his room and feels very let down. I've put an extra £20 in his account and he's off to the student union |

Poor chap, it's so unfair that these thugs have not only taken his hard work away, they've also robbed him of his peace-of-mind, I'm glad he's starting to feel a little better, it is very sad that a decent young man should have his faith in human nature tested in this way |

Well done Ad - that must have taken some doing! I'm glad that NFU are sorting it all out, very reliable thank goodness. Maybe he ought to have someone keep him company in his room at night for a while!!! Wonder is they'd fall for that one - don't tell him it was my idea, sure he's already thought of that one |
