It is come to our attention that a group of exhibitors have misgivings about one of our in hand judges who may be competing on the ridden day.
The Committee of the HoCoN group would like to state that we took this under advisement from four senior DCs and the Chairman of the Shows and Events committee and it was confirmed to us that on the basis that only the in hand classes are under the governance of ECAHO and that there would be no contact with the judges for day 2 this was in order.
We again spoke to the Chairman of the Shows and Events committee yesterday afternoon and the position was reconfirmed
As yet we have received no formal written notice of this complaint nor has anyone contacted me as the Show Secretary even though our schedules have been available for some 3 months.
We would like to state that error if any is of the Committee not the individual concerned.
We hope this is a case of dark mutterings rather than a real desire to damage the show or the reputation of the individual concerned and just wish that any objection had been raised when the potential complainants had received their schedules rather than 5 days before the show

Further to previous please see below answer to our enquiry to ECAHO:
Dear Yvonne,
I share the opinion of the other DCs. It is common practice that there are ECAHO shows and non-ECAHO shows (or parts) at the same weekend. We always emphasise that the ECAHO part must be first (if one judge is used for both parts), to avoid any conflict with 13a. As you follow this schedule (first ECAHO, then non-ECAHO) it is fine with our rules, as the ECAHO show ends on Saturday evening. Whatever the judge does on Sunday, is not of our concern. Of course, I don't know if this "set-up" brakes any AHS Rules.
Kind regards Gudrun

Hopefully the matter is now closed albeit it has cast a pall over the show for myself and the other organisers making us reconsider whether there is a future for HoCoN with us at the helm

Don't be despondent Yvonne. I'm sure everyone's going to have a great weekend showing thanks to your efforts on their behalf. There will always be disputes about judging but the Arab world is a small one and the experts are needed to judge, advise, encourage, promote and to produce! Good luck everyone! |

There really is no pleasing some people! They would be quick enough to moan if there was no Hocon show! I think you, along with the rest of the Hocon committee have done a wonderful job in producing a fantastic show year after year. It is not an easy task by any means. I very much look forward to this weekends show. |

Hi
Just out of interest why is an 'issue' allowed in the first place, surely the HoCon committee can see that there will be 'rumblings' and in best practice avoid the situation!! or perhaps it's 'acting within the rules' hummm!

Maybe we are naive but no we did not see that there would be rumblings and still do not see where an "issue" arose. We did question whether this was within both AHS and ECAHO rules and having had this confirmed went ahead.
There are always rumblings about judges thus if we were to take note of all of these we would never get the show off the ground in the first place.
We would point out that the "issue" was raised by a very small section of our exhibitors so we are not the only naive people in the world

Several people have brought this issue to my notice. The In-hand Judge did enter for the ridden classes on the understanding that as the classes were on separate days then it was classed as two individual shows. When it was realised that as there was only one schedule the show was one show run over two days, the entries were withdrawn. Unfortunately the catalogue had already gone to print, so although they were in the catalogue they did not come forward on the Sunday.
