Hi All,
New year and new topic thread to celebrate Arab racing and keep everyone up to date with the sport.
No news from me really. Sakeena Sky Zayin (6 m by Karmah x Sweet Simplicity) is due to go into training in March and hopefully will continue to improve in 2009. Samauring Zayin ( 4 f by The Wiking x Jumah) will hopefully have a debut run at the end of the season.
I am hoping Kissira Zayin (4 f by Dawwas x Aliesha) will be going on loan for racing this year, but I need to back her first!
Zayin Zeus (3 c by Makzan x CS Comete) will be racing this year for his owner hopefully. So fingers crossed for 4 Zayin runners on the racetrack in 2009.
Endurance wise - Zayin Vakaash, Kumara Zayin and Laihana Zayin are all due to compete on the endurance circuit in 2009 with their respective owners.
Foals - Comete due in April to Kaolino and Jumah due to Eau Royal in May.
Barryh and GAS Pepelka are due to be put in foal in May but I haven't decided who to yet.
Enough of my rambling - whats everyone else's racing plans?

Hi All,
Getting quite excited about the racing season now and hopefully manage to take Sky out for a ride next week baring weather either flooding or freezing the tracks. Samy and Kitty still completely unbroken and will try and drag them in next weekend for a quick session in the arena which will no doubt end in tears (for me!!!).
Race plan looks good, lots of possible races for Sky and about 9 potential meetings she could run at (Wolves is barred after Septembers efforts - interestingly her dam Blondie didn't like the all weather either). Samy will hopefully run at end of season and possibly the Breeders Cup, as it will probably be the last year we have this race as it was so poorly supported last year. I am hopeful by opening it up to 3yr olds we may get more runners!

Not the best start to the year, the lorry is broken.....on the good side just had a delivery of 300 bales of shavings so that is sorted. The horses are starting to charge around the fields, it that anticipation or what

Monty's holiday ended this afternoon. After a little bit of play he gave up and was caught and then long reined the mile and a half to the yard and is now in his stable. One mouthful of shavings later he has decided he doesn't like them......and on the up side there is no cheeky little pony bossing him around and trying to nick his food.

Hello, I'm new to your Racing gossip, and very excited because my lovely mare Destiny's Dream has just been delivered to training. She had one race at the very end of the last year, but it was a real learning curve for her and she took it all in good part and was very happy with the whole process, so Fingers Crossed ! Would be keen to keep up to date on all news and gossip. Definitely looking foward to going racing .............. |

Hi Nicki,
Welcome to the racing section, we used to have a great crowd here but they have defected to another site due to "enforcement action", hopefully they'll return before the start of the season as Arabianlines have been incredibly supportive of Arabian racing Uk for the last 7 years.
I remember your mare ran at Wolverhampton and she has lovely breeding, her sire Sayawan is gorgeous and that dam line have produced some great Arab racing horses, I enjoyed researching her pedigree for the race card all those wonderful egyptian performance lines, Ikbal has been a superb producer for Claverdon stud. Dennis is a great trainer as well. Her cousin is on the for sale section here by Makzan.
All the Zayin Horses are all well although SKy has pulled a sickie and pulled a muscle in her shoulder and is on box rest for this week, the brood mares are on a rota of keeping her company (except Barry who would never tolerate her liberty being infringed and having to spend an entire day in the stable!!!).
Comete is due 18th April and Jumah 7th May so not long now, both are swelling nicely, letting those rugs out bit by bit. Sky off to Sam's end of this month hopefully and fingers crossed will run at Taunton as I have loads of friends and relatives coming.
Samauring and Kissira are coming along nicely with their remedial work, both seem to enjoy they're Saturday school, I hope to do prelim work with Samy and then send her to Sam's at end of June for maybe a run or two at the end of the season.
Still haven't decided who to put Barry and Pepelka to, but current short list includes : Djendel, Prince D'Orient, Jiyush and Ecliptic. Funds permitting as I desperately need a new car!!

Roll up Roll Up not long to the new season & the start of our FEI...bring it on can't wait..... See you all later, batten the hatches now I think the snow's coming...Sue |

snowing in Selborne ....luckily the L200 can get around the lanes and take me to the horses. Monty and Risky are the lucky ones, they are in with me at their beck and call to skip out, feed and water.
Went to see Sky on sunday and delivered some feed and shavings to keep Felicity topped up....... He looks well,,,,good job I went then before the white stuff came.

Yes, it seems to have been removed for now, but suffice to say it is a promising start that owners have the confidence to register some of their horses this early.

Little Monty is now under saddle, Andy sat on him on one of the lanes near the yard and again around the yard and he was a little star.

Hi All,
Yes good news people are registering early despite the recession/credit crunch and the doom and gloom of winter. For the first time in about 2 months my feet weren't frozen for the first 20 mins of doing the horses. Poor Sky (my Arab filly not David's TB gelding) is still on box rest and less than impressed about it too, the others are all fine if a little muddy; apart from my yearling Billy (Monty's cousin) who absolutely hates the wind, rain, mud and generally the winter! Comete and Jumah are getting enormous now, and only 8 weeks to go for Comete.
Well done for getting Monty going, I've suspended work on my two 4 yr olds as its too cold, wet and miserable and I am rather pathetically too tired (I'll blame it on my 17 hrs days during the week doing the horses, working and of course the dreaded commute to London).
I see March as a turning the corner month, Sky should be going into training with....Sam/Adam and we're nearly at Spring.

First day under saddle for the 2009 string : Monty (Senor Dubblecheck), Willow ( Mahbishai), Rocket ( El Buba), Saffy (Anganate Safinat), Notid and K C (Kings Cavalier).....and they were all good children. They have now also got NEW shoes. Their winter holiday has for sure come to an end and we all look forward to Taunton May 16th

just over two months till the first meeting at Taunton May 16th.
We now have 8 in training and all working well having started out just walk and trot, this week we have had a few gentle lobs along some of the headlands near to the yard. Plus has returned for her third season and joined by her stable companion Even Keener ( Bengali D'Albret / Kenithra ).
There is a certain liveliness in the horses, which resulted in Notid last week slipping over on some ice with me on him....luckily only bruising for me this time.
Shadow however, one of our non arab hacks has claimed 2 victims already including a broken collar bone.
Final news TFA Al Ifa who raced with us the last two seasons has a new owner, Karin who hopes to do some endurance and some juymping with her, and best of all she is for the near future staying in the yard.

Friday the thirteenth....unlucky for some......me one bronc and I'm on the deck holding the reins with my foot caught in the stirrups. Luckily he just spun round whilst I removed my boot, put it back on and remounted. He then followed this up a little later with a rear......all good fun The question is which horse......answers on a post card to BXPS Racing, Hampshire

Shadow claiming victims?! he is obviously learning from Risky! A bronco? hummm, racing or hack horse? racing guessing Willow, non racing gotta be Risky :) No near accidents with Sky...yet, but he definately is fresh! |
