Whereabouts are you? I am *possibly* thinking of covering my filly at some point. As someonelse said, I am all over the place with ideas at the moment.... As I am breeding one to keep for my OH I am only intending to breed one. But there are at least 4 stallions i would like to use!! Perhaps you could PM me with term etc.

Thanks,
Helen

Hi

I know this discussion is a little old. But Gunni led me to it as I was talking to her on another forum where she posted photos of her horses and new foals. So I followed the links to the all breeds info and Winged Saint appeared as grandsire to her colt.

I have been researching the Blue Domino/Ludo lines in Pure Crabbets as I love the Rissalix movement, but also the brains and saddle qualities of the Blue Domino horses. Here is Australia these lines are found through high percentage Crabbet/English bred horses via Royal Domino who was imported in utero to Australia. But even those are getting far and few. I have owned a Royal Domino grand daughter for over 22 years. She has been the best saddle horse, friend and herd boss. She started our new adventure with Arabians after we got married.

So when I came across Winged Saint and his lines close to Blue Domino and Ludo, plus he exhibits the look and type I am looking for. We have the Silver lines which he appears to breed well with. Plus our Pure Crabbet girl who is of the Shafreyn lines. Plus we are breeding mares owned by friends to her sire to hopefully get at least one filly. Whilst we are not totally Pure Crabbet breeders, we do breed high percentage Crabbets of the Silver Family who are Silver Fire dam lines.

I have loved all the photos of Winged Saint and what he produces, we hope it could be possible to be ecomonically viable for his owners to export semen by him. I know we have 3 mares we would like to use him with. Plus a couple of other breeders have shown interest.

Regards

Jill

I don't *think* he is with those owners anymore. The Lady PM'd me a while ago to say he had moved.

Dear Helen,

I thought I would let you know personally, although you may have already heard that Winged Saint has found a new home - he will be standing at Seren Arabians, in Cumbria.

I don't know if you have decided to breed with your filly yet, but you can see him there if you would like to.

With best wishes,
Terri

Nice to see this topic reappearing on AL. Thought any of you interested in these lines might like to know that my 100% Crabbet mare Narishka is currently in Cumbria visiting Saint - fingers crossed. The Atkinsons at Seren Stud and their vet are being wonderful, checking up on every detail of my mare's history in their determination to get everything right. I can certainly recommend the care and attention any visiting mare receives.

Also, the Atkinsons are seriously looking into making both Saint and their other 100% stallion Hanson available by AI next year - so do let them know if you are interested.

Saint has not had much opportunity at stud to date but, as well as Moulton Millenium sire of some of Gunni's lovely youngsters, he has also sired British National Ridden Champion Silver Brocade, a good endurance mare and a lovely filly Silver Serendipity, bred by Kay Firth-Butterfield, also now at the Atkinsons. I am hoping to get down to see Caroline Sussex's new colt by him out of Binley Silvern Grace soon too - piccies of him on the Binley Stud website and the Seren Stud website.

I know I've said this before but you really should use this horse folks. He really is something special.

Just to confirm that Saint's stud career is back up and running, and that he is being a perfect gentleman with his mares and with us. Taking nothing for granted, we hope for his first pregnancy diagnosis of this year in a fortnight.

However, a warning to us all to keep breeding through the recession if we can: shrinking gene pools can lead to all sorts of conformational defects. Quite a shock to see this out of the kitchen window at breakfast on Monday:

Narishka; Pushmepullyou (Dominita + Shadowed Gold); Seren Canopus Hanifa; Winged Saint. {Average Crabbet percentage: 100.00} Apologies for the rain, also 100% at the time.

Luckily there are less alarming outcomes, too: www.binleystud.com/news.html

We are hoping to train Saint for AI once his coverings are complete. 2 more mares lined up for June coverings, then he can get back to mooching for a while before training commences.

We can't believe our luck in bringing him here. Two stallions of impeccable temperament at the same time. We are currently using both Saint and Hanson to help someone to overcome their severe fear of horses.

Much more later if people would like to know what is happening.

Dom and Jan Atkinson,
Seren Arabians

Hi all my mare Dominita is with Seren Arabians & has been covered by Winged Saint, fingers crossed she will take!

Can't wait to see how her foal will turn out, as it will be double Wright bred as her sire Silver Blue Ludo (Silver Blue x Golden Ludo(full brother to Golden Silver)) was bred by the Wrights too! He is also still with us (24 this year!) & like Winged Saint is a Dajania line stallion, with multiple lines to Ludo & Blue Domino. He also boasts a fantastic temperament, has a beautiful big eye, good conformation & can really move!!! There are pics of him on Mrs Carpenters website, if you Google Nomadarabians, the web address should come up. I am sure that you will agree he is also someone very special!! I am also sure if Mrs Carpenter had enough demand she would get his semen frozen (he is based in France).

Had a look on the Binley Stud website & her colt by Winged Saint is gorgeous!

Hi Everyone, Went to visit Saint again but in his new home with Dom & Jan Atkinson at Seren Arabians on Friday. What a place! The views are nearly as gorgeous as the horses!

My precious Narishka is very settled and running out with Claire's Domanita - I'll send you some snaps Claire. Saint is just across the fence line with another two mares with him - he calls by periodically just to see if Narishka is feeling "friendly" yet!

No exaggeration - both these stallions (Winged Saint and Hanson) are just so easy and sweet to be around - the human hospitality isn't bad either. Had the most wonderful day - thank you Dom & Jan. Still adore Winged Saint - he has to be my favourite Crabbet stallion in the UK right now. Fingers crossed I get a baby as gorgeous as Caroline's colt or the exquisite Silver Serendipity who I also met on Friday. Last saw the latter as a foal at Kay's but she is even more beautiful now.

Use Winged Saint everyone!

OK finally gave up on my old Flikr account - they've lost me! I've started a new account. All so I can share with you all a few snaps taken at Seren Arabians - Winged Saint's new home.

This is Winged Saint just last Friday - so gorgeous.

And his exquisite daughter Silver Serendipity (from Silver Ingot).

And this is my own Narishka enjoying Dom and Jan's hospitality.

Hope you all enjoy.

Just to update you all, Winged Saint now has three mares in foal for 2010 babies so obviously firing on all cylinders still! Claire's Domanita is one so congratulations Claire. In fact the only one who is being less co-operative is my own Narishka - but I'm sure we'll get there.

The Atkinson's fabulous Crabbet mare Shadowed Gold is also in foal and, give how lovely her Hanson son is, would it be wicked of me to hope it might be a colt?! Sorry!
