Lynn, Many thanks for finding that article and picture. Very interesting! By the way, loved 'the Titanic was built by professionals' bit! Great points!

Debbie, Love your boys breeding...especially the exceptionally rare dam line to the Naziri daughter Dafinetta! Yavroum also figures in his pedigree via the Naziri daughter Nazziria...Gosh it would be super to see pictures of both Dafinetta and Nazziria as well as Yavroum. Then you also have Bright Shadow so he brings forth the Naziri daughter Shamnar. There should be a tremendous amount of pretty in your pedigree...if not ethereal...If your boy is a gray, can only imagine he is very very beautiful. I don't think I've seen 3 different Naziri daughters in one pedigree! Amazing, considering there were only 6 Naziri foals, one died and there was thus, one son Saladin II and the daughters! Your boy should also have an excellent if not kindly temperament with the Bright Shadow. So you have a Skowronek sire line and Kuhailan Krush dam line, again renowned for near magical properties. What a wonderful combination. Pictures????

Mike,

The first thing that should strike one about Razamzam is that she is ELEGANT! A straight Egyptian's pedigree! Rasmoniet was a stunning stallion, world traveller, defined smoothness, perhaps a tad long in the back if one were going to nitpic...of exceptional soft beauty...Big brown eyes...but would bet that Kaisoon comes through strongly in the pedigree? That splendid upright stance, ultra refinement, and when she surveys HER domain...she definitely owns it! If she has had a good beginning, she is pure love until she goes on display then assumes the role of STAR! What an awesome girl for your stallions! Can't wait to see her babies by your boys. She must be a gorgeous Seglawi Jedran of uncommon beauty. Pictures? (that line is very hard to photograph....)

Susan! HE looks so young in that picture-but very very lovely. He certainly looks to live up to the pedigree!

Thank you for posting the pictures folks!

It is great to hear your description of Razamzam Egbert as she is at Al Waha with me and i will be covering her this year as agreed with Mike. I also have Classic Maidan of Mike's at the stud for this season but I will be trying something different with her and not covering her with Maidan or Azim Ibn Alidaar (also of Mike's) that is with Judith Evans at Auchmillan.

More later!

Hi Egbert

Thank you for the bit on Ramak Gold. I bred him and had both mum and dad. Ramak has a full sister as well who hopefully her owner will breed from. His dam certainly seem to be true to her breeding as she is a wonderful mover and gives one a beautiful ride. Her brother is also a suberb mover. I have not found many other people with arabs of their breeding.

Jane,

Who do you have in mind for her? Whoever she is bred to the result should be awesome!

Tamila, can you post any picts? Lovely lovely breeding there!

Debbie,

He is gorgeous! Is he intact?

Gunni,

Thought the pedigree looked familiar...but Debbie asked if I saw anything special and that was the first time I spotted the line breeding to Naziri! That was a surprise and explains yet again another reason why there is so much pretty in the line AND why it is CRITICAL to keep these animals in production!

Darn it Mike...For some reason my video thing isn't working! @#$%^&! Darn it! Thank you .... Am going to see if I can remove then re-install the video system. Really want to see that clip!

Hello Egbert, Unfortunatly he was gelded...not by me! By someone who didn't realise his breeding. Thank you for your kind comments,he is my absolute dream and I love him to bits. He does have an amazing temperment and loves people! If people stop to admire him, which they often do when I'm riding he does like to stop and meet with them and is always very gentle.

LOL Mike, just watched the video - are you sure it's not a pinto mare? Although I must admit, I have not previously heard about horses that were pinto-coloured on one side only

Both Razamzam and her daughter are absolute beauties!! I bet Jane is very excited about the outcome of her next breeding.

Tamila,

I wasn't able to make any of them come up...Am I doing something wrong or are they just not posting?

Debbie this is one of those times that cloning might be considered... He is just gorgeous! Are his breeders still in business? Have you met Gunni? She might hold the solution!

Apparently I am doing something wrong...Tried for over 4 hours to load the Adobe Video player...obviously no luck. Anne, thanks for noting their beauty...At least I can imagine how Razamzam looks.

Hi Tamila, Although the (img) part should be square brackets i.e. [img] I don't think that is the problem alone. I think your pic isn't uploaded correctly on flickr. Did you click on all sizes and then grab the photo's url? Any probs please email me the pics and I'll upload them on flickr and post them up. fiona_hall@btinternet.com

Hello Egbert - I am the breeder of Gunni's and Debbie's crabbets and I have one other left here with me called Marbon Melissa.
She has bred the ethereal grey but unfortunately he at present only has one testicle but is the most beautiful horse I have bred. He is by Naresh (Prince Sadik ex Rose of Bediya). As you probably know Rose of Bediya has bred some super show winners including OAS Panache. I have another colt this year from Melissa but he is different in that he has taken the El Sharluke/Melissa type and has loads of white and is extremely flashy but a slightly deeper body than his full brother. They both have superb temperaments. I think it is such a shame that Istashra did not produce more foals to crabbet stallions. I believe she was difficult to get in foal and so we were so lucky to have had Shuhira in the first place.
It has been great reading your answers to every one's questions and I must try and catch up with it all. The reason I am replying is because Debbie phoned me and told me to read page 31. She is going to try and put some pics on of Silver and Masadi as foals. It is further frustrating about Silver as he is also SCID clear and looks as if he is going to have to be gelded in the future. I look forward to meeting you at Al Waha in the summer.

Hello Egbert, Are you serious about cloning? I've heard of Dolly the cloned sheep, but is this done with horses? Where would I find information about it? Would a cloned horse be eceptable to register with the AHS?
I am bring Di Ellis with me to Al Waha stud visit, it will be very interesting for me to listen to the two of you discussing Crabbets....if you get the time. I wish Di would post on here a bit more often as she is a wealth of knoweledge..... if only I could keep in my head half of what she tells me!!!! She has bred some beautiful horses. You are SO right about the ethereal grey! Di has bred it! It's such a shame only one testical is showing Personally I can't see why it can't be used to sire something if he can? Like you say these lines are rare and worth preserving. What is the reason for him or any other colt like him not being able to get a Stallion status? Have you heard of any methods/opperations to get the other one down or is there a chance of it coming down naturally in the future?

I've started a new thread so we don't go off topic Stallion Licence/Status

Hello Egbert,

I have been fascinated reading this thread. You have been so kind explaining the bloodlines to everyone.
Would you be kind enough to look at my mares pedigree and share your knowledge of her bloodlines.
My dream is to have a foal from her. I am mostly interested in the offsprings temperament, trainability and then looks. Any advice which bloodlines would suit?

This the link, I hope it works

http://www.allbreedpedigree.com/elleyce

Also could you look at my geldings

I am not sure if the links will work

Hi Amanda,

The first link works fine, but the second one does not - at least for me.

Wow - your Elleyce has a knock out pedigree!!!! Would love to see a pic

Not sure if your email is working, but saw your post about losing your photos on your laptop, so have emailed you photos you sent to me, which include Razamzam and her last foal.

Di! Welcome aboard! What a genuine honor to meet the lady who bred such beautiful horses! Am so looking forward to meeting you and Debbie at Al Waha! What fun!

Yes, I do remember Rose of Bidiya-what an incredible broodmare she has proven to be if only she had OAS Panache! Am so saddened to read about the cryptorchidism...Darn! You know, I am just not knowledgeable about the problem. If they are fertile would assume they should be used if the blood combo is rare and outstanding. I thought that there was a surgery to correct the issue....? Will ask my vet the next time he is out! Again, am looking forward to seeing you this August!

Tamila! There is a small picture about the size of my thumbnail of a beautiful white horse ridden in some class? Endurance???Looks wonderful!

Debbie am absolutely serious about cloning, especially under certain circumstances....If an animal is fabulous, one of a kind, cannot be reproduced and hasn't had a chance to reproduce-yes, it think he should be properly registered. But doubt if the AHS or any other registry would permit such at the moment. When my gelding passed, I've kept tail hairs just in case the costs became reasonable. Yes, it is my understanding that an endurance champion has been cloned over here and the cost is huge...Roughly $35,000.-Whether he has been registered I am uncertain. Also, it is my understanding is that the matches aren't exact phenotypically tho' they tend to have the identically measured blood..Weird to think about, isn't it?

Amanda! A warm welcome to you, too! You certainly have quite a mare in Elleyce! Sire line to Amurath Sahib-nearly always a guarantee of great beauty...just takes a long time to reach maturity as so many of the Polish lines. Top was certainaly no slouch either and a beautiful stallion, superb mover and very smooth and exotic especially being pure in the strain Sobha! What a beauty she must be! Is she bay???? Am sad to say cannot tell you very much about the dam line except that it is a strong one, it is French in origin and I think is regarded as Seglawi...She should be kindly, a powerhouse and just wonderful. I'll second Anne! Pictures would be wonderful!

Unfortuntely it wasn't possible to open up the gelding's pedigree. Could you tell us sire and dam? Might be able to get it that way!
