Big pat on the back for you both, Lynda & Sue....your efforts over the last twenty one years, to promote the importance of Anglo and Part Bred Arab horses in open Show competition, has been immeasurable and much appreciated, in the face of ever increasing disinterest from our own Breed Society.

One only has to look at the breeding of major HOYS successes across the board, to appreciate that Arabian blood figures in very many of those award winners. Quite a number of whom, also contend the Cherif Championships...with line ups of quality ridden horses and ponies exampling some of the best in the Country!!

Remember......don`t have to qualify for In-Hand classes AND you do not need to be an AHS Member to enter

So, come on all you A/Liner Anglo/PBA Owners,Breeders.....support this Showcase show with your entries In-Hand. Lynda and Sue have worked tirelessly to stage this HOYS equivalent, for Ridden and now, In-Hand classes, exclusively for Anglo and Part Bred Arab Horses and Ponies

Well done Lynda and Sue. A perfect chance to show what hidden gems are out there in the Anglo/ Part-bred in-hand world.

First a revival of the UK Championships and now a chance to show our next generation ridden horses to the people we hope will ride them.

Don't waste this great opportunity.

Jean

The list of qualified horses and ponies is up, and will be added to as the season continues.

The AHS National Show at Malvern is no longer a qualifying show.

Hi Lynda

Why are the Nationals no longer a qualifier?

I think that is a real shame, the National Show for the breed society is no longer a qualifier for the Anglo and Part bred Champs.

Hi Daf,

I do hope that Nurha is well.

Without going into too many details, some of our sponsors felt that they did not want to be associated with what has gone on over the last few months.

Hi Lynda

Gosh it is such a shame isnt it. I can see it going the same way as qualifiers for Royal Int. as this rate. I do hope not as ive always found it too costly to do PUK stuff with horse, owner, rider etc all having to pay membership fees.

Nuri is fine, she turned 21yrs old this week but still looks wonderful and did make me laugh when i couldnt catch her in and had to watch her parade around the field, to see her move the way she did was incredible. I love this horse to bits, you just can not beat a good Anglo!

Hi Daf,

Unfortunately we had no control with the International qualifiers, as BSPS sponsor the classes for the ridden Anglo and Part-breds.

Hi Lynda

Its ok i realise the International and Cherif are different entities but just worry the Cherif will go the same way if it doesnt receive the back up from the AHS, the breed society for the breed. After all the Cherif Champs and the Nationals are the biggest Chmapionships for the Anglos and Parts in my opinion.

Daf,

Just to put you in the picture - we have never had any back up from the Society, nor have we ever asked for any. The Cherif has always been, and will always be independently run.

We are far in advance with qualifying cards this year, and have had tremendous interest in our new In-hand section. Bearing in mind that last year broke all records with 109 entered, I don't think that we are quite ready to pull the plug yet!

This is not the first time that the Nationals have lost the qualifier, and then, it made no difference to our entries.

Hi having been to both the nationals and the cherif, the cherif wins every time for the part breds, by far the better show, so well organised and run, it has always been so and stands strong in its own right, the cherif is the hoys for part breds and in my opinion and listening to fellow competitors they will continue to go back year after year because the showing experience there is second to none.

Not taking anything away from the nationals, but just to say the cherif has all the backing it needs and what a fabulous reputation it has thanks to the wonderful work of all concerned especially lynda and sue, and this year looks even better, i dont know how they do it.

If you havent tried this show its well worth trying to qualify for so come on have a go and we will all see you there.

Hi

Not sure my point came across how i meant it. I know the Nationals and AHS are not involved with the Cherif, and that Lynda and Sue do an amazing job putting it on each year especially as each year sees growing enteries. I guess what i was trying to put accross is my frustration of what little the breed society does for its anglos and parts (this whole saga of the studbook etc) and reading that the Nationals had dropped its qualifier for the cherif just made me even more disappointed. Wonder how long til they drop anglos and parts all together!

And with regards to the Cherif yes its the big one at the end of the season for anyone with an anglo and part. It is also one of the few chances where anglos and parts can be judges by points so well worth trying to get there. I know this year will be amazing with the extra classes and superb sponsorship, i have already heard lots of people talking about it.

And i agree with Sad1 for many it is the closest they will get to Hoys although lots of parts and anglos do compete as show ponies, hacks, riding horses and Intermediates there ( with super rsults last year doing there bit for the breed).

Anyway hopefully that has explained more what i was trying to sayI certainly wasnt trying to slight the Cherif at all, i love the show and think it is a wonderful show case for the breed. And no in no way was i thinking it was involved with the AHS, i think that is fairly obvious when i htink back to several fiascos at the Nationals and compare it to the well run show that is the Cherif.

I agree with the above and strongly recommend anyone who is thinking of going to go, even if its to watch and not compete because the quality of the animals there is extremely high.

Hi Daf,

We may well have taken your words in the wrong context.

I'm sure that you know that 22 years ago Tina came up with the idea of doing something for the ridden Anglo and Part-breds, as nothing was being done for them, and unfortunately this continues to be the case. This is more than frustrating for all!

Many, many Anglo and Part-breds compete every year at HOYS. Last year, the winner of every Show Pony class was a registered Part-bred, making them Champion and Reserve. The Champion Intermediate was also a PBA, as was the small hack winner. There have also been Supreme ridden Horses and Ponies at HOYS who are registered with the Society.....has it been picked up - no! This should have been splashed across every magazine in the Country.

The Nationals did not drop the qualifier, as explained in my posting on 16 April.

Do hope that we shall see you at the 21st.
