All I know of Shibine is that she produced some very beautiful stock. I saw three of them, a filly and a colt by Kulak ( i think called Suchia and Kash) and also the very lovely Zircon Nazarene. |

Hi, i've only just got him and i picked him up from the meat man so he is very lacking in muscle but you can see he's going to be a real show off, he's 14 and very beautiful. I'd like to show him, as i think he must have some of his fathers influence in there, also a bit of jumping. I've been on lots of web sites, but just can't seem to fine alot on The Shah or Shibine. Would be nice to see what they look like. Shahtan gets his colour from his great great granmother Silver Vanity. I have quite a few pic's of Shahpoor, just haven't seen Shibine. |

The lady who owned him wanted a quick sale so she took him to an auction and nobody was interested, as all the other horses were natives, so like most auctions meat man get pick of whats left. Once they go through auction you can't take them back out. A local lady bought him off the meat man as she likes arabs and couldn't bear to see him go for meat, she has 8 other horses and Shahtan was a bit much for her to handle so i bought him off her for Ģ400 |

Hi Sarah
My mare's great grandsire is the Shah. It is always interesting to hear about horses who have the same horses in their pedigree as my own!! |

Hiya, My arab gelding Kouros' mum is by Shahpoor...The main thing people say when they meet him and know he has shahpoor blood is that he has his thick black mane and tail!? I have posted some picks though you might like to see my gelding is velow and also the grey in my sig. Would love to see your boy.

Do a search for posting pictures. It has been explained so many times, (but I am hopeless.) Its here somewhere!! Just take care of the size though, (for those without broadband and download time.)
I am sure someone will post for you if you mail the photo.

Hi Sarah Welcome to AL.So glad you have saved such a lovely horse. He looks to have such a kind eye.It is so nice to see how they turn out with a lot of TLC.One of my endurance horses I bought for Ģ400 and she turned out to be a lovely kind, good working horse (although it took me some time to get her to trust me as she had been badly treated) Where are you based and which market did you get him from. I must try and get some photos on line. Pauline |

The Shah was one of the most important stallions in the UK in the last part of the 20thc.
He was imported from the USA by Major and Mrs Hedley of Briery Close Stud at the end of the 1960s. He was of all-Egyptian lines - the first such horse to come to the UK since the war. He was a very important horse because he changed the look of the breed here : not just through his offspring but because he also made people open to the idea of bloodlines other than the established ones (Egyptian lines in particular). He also re-introduced the bay colour which had become rare in British Arabs by that time.
The Shah himself was British National Champion in 1978: his offspring have also been BNCs. But they aren't just pretty faces: Shah lines have done well on the racetrack and in performance. He himself was a very kind and intelligent horse (as are most horses of his ancestry) and this is characteristic of his descendants too.
I have a Shah granddaughter, 28 this March and still in charge of everyone!
(BTW, you may find in helpful to avoid confusion when looking up horses to know that the accepted way to describe parentage is that horses are always said to be "by" a stallion and "out of" a mare. It is easy to remember which way round this goes as the foal comes "out of" the mare!)

Thank you for that, very interesting to know. Pauline, i am based in wimborne dorset. I have only just got Shahtan, so the pic's aren't all that good. Not sure which sales it was as it wasn't me that went there. Another lady picked him up and i bought him off her. |
