Hi, just out of interest I'm trying to find out info on Kashan (AhmounXBlue Gleam). If anyone has any info on him, regardless of what it is! please could you reply to me? Also, has anyone heard of Toyd Dryad? Thankyou! Merry Christmas to you and your horses!

Hi - the grey Arab in my signature is by Kashan!!!! Hes called Sharrif Al Quua - or - Sly!! Hes a BIG solid 15.1hh, 12 year old & I do endurance with him. I've never been able to find anything out about Kashan - although I do have a small photo of him in full Arab regalia! Apparently Kasham was over from France to a Stud nr Leominster, Hereforshire for a while & my lad was a result of his visit!
Why are you interested in Kashan???

Hi, wow at last! I used to own a mare by Kashan and at the time I could not find out anything about her (there weren't sites like this at that time!) I'm just curious really, she was such a lovely mare that I'd love to find out more about her history. She was bred in Uffculme in cullompton, Devon but can't find anymore than that out in 1980. What's yours like? Thankyou for getting in contact!

Hi Lauren
Have you looked on www.allbreedpedigree.com ? If you put Kashan's name in the query box there are a couple of arabians of that name but do you know approx. what year was he born ?

Hi Janet, thanks, yes I have had a look at that website - its amazing, lovely to see pictures of Kashan's parents! Unfortunately it only tends to go "up" the family tree rather than "down" so there's no more info on Kashan or any of his offspring. I've found out that Kashan was born in 1977. Wish I could do that as a job! |

Hi All!!
I think this is quite funny as Ive asked many time on this site if anyone has heard of Kashan - & no relpies - then there we are a RUSH about him!!
Sly the grey in my signature is a Kashan son - hes rising 13 & I've been owned by him since he was a yearling! He is the most FAB horse - but we have over the years had many probs - all sussed now & he is really enjoying life being my riding/endurance horse - hes a VERY strong horse to ride - but we have an understanding now - I allow him to go forward fast - but he has to listen to me!!! WE both really enjoy endurance together now!! Hes also the fastest creature on four legs I've ever sat on (I've ridden NH race horses & P2P horses on racing exercise in my youth!!) & Sly would certainly have given them a run for their money & would have made sure his grey nose was first over the winning post - come what may!!!
All in all - hes fantastic , VERY fast, a true & wonderful FRIEND!!!!

Hi Judith, I did not realise that you had a Kashan son. You did say you had Ahmoun grandson. I may be able to find out morte sbout him through Tina Cooke, Ahmoun's breeder and owner. Incidentally did you ever see Ahmoun, He was just soo beautiful. I do not know but Kashan may have been bred by Val Cridge as she owned Blue Gleam and often used Ahmoun. |

Hi Pauline!
I think I got my sons, gandsons, g, ggs etc muddled up! Yes - my lad is Kashans son!
I would love to know more & also never saw Ahmoun - Oh I wish!!!
Yes - Kashan was bred by V. Cridge
Sly(Sharrif Al Quua) his dam was Shahera 788/1986(Asfiya/Esmerelda) - she was bred by J. Sinagola - she was sold down to SW Wales area in foal or poss just foaled to a TB Terrahan Missile - I've tried to trace her - but no luck!
Would love to know more of Kashan!
The little info I have on him is a small stud card! Apparently he was in Hereforshire at stud for a season - on loan from France. He was at stud nr Leominster with a S. Pell. He was noted as being grey, 14.2hh & the replica of his sire & grandsire. Judith |

Wow, that's been great thanks! My mare I used to have sounds very different to your boy though Judith! Although she was forward going she was so sensible and never head strong! I know she was bred in a stud in Uffculme, Cullompton, Devon so perhaps Toyd Dryad was taken to Leominster where Kashan was... Blue Gleam is gorgeous, there's a piccy of him on www.allbreedpedigree.com or whichever the website is! I wonder if Kashan is still around... |

Judith - heres how you post a photo (put as simply as i can)
1) You first need to "upload" your photo to a "hosting" site - www.flickr.com is an easy one. 2) You then need to cut the URL for the photo, (if you use flikr, if you click on all sizes it gives you various size options!) 3) Then in Arabian lines You need to use "reply to topic" rather then Quick reply. 4) the third buttom from the Right is Insert Image - this will give you - [ img ] [ /img ] you then need to paste your URL (that you cut earlier) into the middle of this Code
Sounds difficult but it is quite easy once you get the hang of it. |

Should add that out of 64km - this photo was taken in the 5 mins that it didn't absolutly tip down with rain & VERY heavy rain at that!! We did 40 miles in the pouring rain - I've never been so wet when competing!!!

I think I have Kashan on a stallion parade video, give me a few days to find it out and view it and will let you know. If he is on there, it will be backed up by some commentary. It would have been taken about 1984 ish |

Judith, You can see his ancestry. I would have said he had to be related to Ahmoun. My stallion, Akram Gold wass a grandson of Ahmoun and he has his beautiful head. Alas he has now been gelded but is very happy. |

Pauline - would love to have seen Kashan in the flesh! Any idea where he is or if hes still alive?
Heres one of Sly a couple of years ago at Llyn Brianne - a reservoir in mid Wales - not far from here - stunning scenery!
