I have just bought this lovely mare I know I really need another horse like a hole in the head, but she is absolutly beautiful and will make a wonderful wife for crimbo! I have always admired the offspring of Queens Topaz, and to top it all she is an Aswan grand daughter! I have promised her a home for life as she is getting on a bit like me and she has joined the happy band of mares known as Dreamfield Arabians

Yay! Another fan of the Queens Topaz family here!! What's her full breeding? My boy is Queens Topaz x Narim and obviously there are plenty of other gorgeous successful Queens Topaz children around!! Hope she settles well. |

Congratulations on the purchase of Thoraya, she is a beautiful mare, who i had the greatest pleasure in looking after, when she was owned by Sam Madgwick. As you are probably aware she is the dam of Ali g x Ibn Charismma, who is the sweetest, kindest natured horse you could ever wish to meet,he has also been very consistant in the show ring. She will be a great wife for your boy and i wish you all the very best with her.
Best wishes

Congratulations!!!! I too wanted to buy her back (we bred her at Al Waha) but we have just too many mares with us still plus relations so had to be sensible for once .
Thoraya won very well as a youngster and when I have a minute (just back in the house from a weekend in Dubai), I'll let you have any photos and details I can find. We sold her to Andrea Ware so she is her first owner and I'm sure Andrea will have a lot of photos of her too.
She is the only grey daughter or son of Topaz's, and by far the best of the Mamluk's we bred at Al Waha.
I am very happy for you.

Thank you for that information Jane that is wonderful, and dont worry she will be treated like royalty here I knew you had bred her but I didnt know she was the only grey out of Queens Topaz I would love to see more pictures of her and family, Bob you are an angel for sending those, Denise you were lucky to have known her as a young lady, she and I will enter our dotage together along with minuette who is 23 if she went to Andrea's from a youngster then to Alan and Judi's, I am her her third and final home, she has done well and been in safe hands throughout her life. |

Congratulations Lynda
I noticed she had been sold and I wondered who the lucky buyer was - she is just beautiful and what a damline!!!!
I'd have snatched her up myself if I'd had the means
I'm so happy she now has a permanent, loving home with you and I think she and Charissma are going to be a sensational combination.
I really dont know who I'm most happy for - you or Thoraya
Hugs and best wishes

Thanks Yvonne, she has settled in well although she has formed a new herd ! she has half the young fillies follow her while the other half being older ladies ignore her, but its funny to see how she has taken over as matriarc of her own herd I know have two herds of dreamfield horses ! not funny when they all come in at night though as there is much face pulling and jostling for the gate way has anyone else experienced this? |

Lynda,
I had to smile when I read your post !!
Both Dancing Queen (Thoraya's gran) and Queen's Topaz (her dam), in fact the whole family through the tail female, are 'alpha' mares ruling the roost in the herd, and they do it with just a look and a pinned back ear.
When you get round to covering Thoraya, I would also suspect that you will have one day in her longish (10 day?!) season that she'll accept to be covered, the rest of the time she might be really horrible though still saying yes please to the stallion.
Good luck,
Jane

P.S.
The name Thoraya, an Arabic name, comes from astrology and means the top or the best .
