Jane has prompted me to post all the previous winners of the beautiful trophy we received at Malvern for BNC Ridden Stallion.
What history this trophy holds - can anyone post photos of the previous winners. We feel very honoured that Toman's name will be added for 2005

Here are:-
Gerwazy 1955(Doktryner-Gwara) Winner in 1968 & 1969
and
Sisyrinchium (Dhruv - Sakuntala) Winner in 1997
Regarding the missing winners, there was no show during the foot & mouth which would account for one year, but not for the other two.
What might be really interesting, if we can get enough photos would be to see if the horses have changed over the years in the same way that the in-hand horses have (or at least appear to have done) Given that whilst the style and manner of presentation in-hand has changed quite considerably, ridden classes have stayed essentially the same over the years.

Abu Dhahi, winner 1996, unfortunately was we think chased by a dog through his fence and impaled himself on a cut tree trunk and passed away three days later. He was a lovely boy and I knew him virtually from birth. He has left a few winners behind one being Mi Dhahling owned by Joanne Woodward.
He was sadly missed by all who knew him. |

Mike
Thank you very much for transferring this topic to a new thread for us - much appreciated. I think your idea of featuring inhand and ridden pics for comparison is excellant, it will be interesting to see if they have changed in anyway. I've photographed quite a few of these horses inhand and have ridden pics from books, magazines etc as well. Interestingly, I was reading an article by Lady Anne Lytton about 'Blue Halo' this morning and didn't realise that he was 'Blue Domino's' smallest son. It's true that you learn something new every day! Very sorry to read about 'Abhu Dhahi,' I'm sure we can find a photo to post as a tribute.
Caroline
PS will post some pics at the weekend, busy with work at the mo and haven't studied Mike's quiz yet.............!

1965 Argos (Naborr x Arfa) here is a list of offspring from Allbreedsdatasource - anyone got photos? His grandson Vain Hussar also won the trophy in 1987 with Kath Houghton. I believe Vain Hussar is in Abu Dhabi - I have photos of him as a yearling, winning Ayr County Show but I am sure others have more professional photos of him - come on Sandra/Chris post some of Czar for us to see

Just to add to the 1995 winne, Abu Dhahi. He, until 1996, was the only horse to have been Supreme Ridden Champion at Haydock, win the Royal International, the British National Championship and Res. Champion at Towerlands. This he did in 1995 but he was also Supreme Ridden Champion at Haydock in 1994. He had also won at Haydock and Malvern in his first year out.
This info. and his picture can be seen in the AHS magazine for Winter 1996 page 88. Unfortunately it is his obituary.written by Jo Woodward. |

Great photos Caroline and great info tamilla re Dhahi, I will look up his photo, scan it and send to BOB or MIKE please to help download it
One of these daysI will manage it.
Come on keep the info and phots coming.
Argos very close to my heart - he was sire of RAGOS (sire of Vain Hussar) and sire of Raqqasa (dam of Raqisa and Santanna) so VERY MUCH embedded in my stud.
Think I am correct is saying he won BNC In Hand and BNC Under Saddle - now was that in the same year |

Argos is also in the pedigree of Tamila, Rimarli and Ramak Gold. I always thought he was a lovely horse and well worth having in the pedigrees. He did win both the Championships in the samme year and I think is still the only one to have done so.
I have always loved Holly Blue, who belonged to Michael Harris, as she was so like Argos. |

Judi, posting pics is easy even I have managed it lol
Upload said pic to your Flickr album then, click on pic and you get it displayed. Above said pic you'll see ; send to group, add to set, blog this, all sizes etc
Click on All Sizes then above pic choose your size: square, thumb, small, med etc
Scroll down and it will give you 1, Grab the photo URL
Copy this link and paste where you want . You need to put this at the end [/img] and this at the front [img] |

I love reading all the results for the past ridden champions and too see if they have changed or not w=by looking at the photos!
I would also love it if someone posted up all the past inhand national champions to do the contrast to see if they have changed at all over the years...which i would say they have more than the ridden arabs!
Anyone going to offer?? |

It's a nice idea to post pictures of past inhand champions but where do you stop? I have most of them but it takes time to scan them into the computer, upload them onto Flickr and then copy and paste onto this thread; that's why I've only posted a few of the ridden horses to date, have more to come but they will have to wait awhile unless someone else offers?
