Another question, a four parter, related to the "Black Stallion" movies, name the horse who was allegedly Walter Farley's first choice to star as "the black" in "The Black Stallion", but actually appeared in the cross country race in "The Black Stallion Returns" and who was his famous and influential full brother? Also name the Nazeer grand-daughter who appears in "The Young Black Stallion" and what was unique about her mother?
Enjoy .....

Well I know for 1 thing, for the black stallion cross counrty scene, El Mokhtar (Galal x Mohga), who was very similar to Cass Ole, but also died on the set of the black stallion returns becuase of Colic.
umm don't really know about the others, but will go and have a search now

According to my limited research it seems about 40 horses were used in this film, ho- and 10 camels. The horses, so it say's, all came from the stud farm of Jack Maritz in South Africa but I can’t find any horses registered to him, although others with the name Maritz do show up.
Now BEST PAL can you tell me does the filly carry the Sidi or the Shaheer prefix

Well, in that case the filly's dam is Foze who was the only SE Nazeer daughter to have a foal by a non SE stallion (correct me if I'm wrong, Mike)
Oh and the stallion is Salon (Negatiw x Sonata)
The filly must be Bint Foze, 1975
Anne
Bob, you ought to have remembered this - both horses were mentioned in this very thread last year -- and Mike, you have a wicked (but delightful) sense of humour

Hi Anne,
You are correct on both counts
To summarise
1) El Mokhtar (Galal X Mohga)
2)Ibn Galal (Galal X Mohga) quite possibly the most consistent source of type within SE bloodlines and a sire with a five figure stud fee
3) Bint Foze (Salon X Foze) dam of South African National Champion Sidi Ibn Bint Foze. She appears briefly in "The Young Black Stallion" pulling a cart
4) Foze (Nazeer X Fathia)born at the EAO in 1959, and as Anne correctly pointed out the only Nazeer daughter ever bred to a non-SE sire (Salon)
Finally a nicer photo of Salon (Negatiw X Sonata)
Well Done to all!!! I shall have to make the next question a little bit trickier ......

Anne love, as usual you wait untill I am in big problems then like the gardian ANGEL you are you save me from defeat at the hands of BEST PAL Thank you and CONGRATULATIONS
On day one I looked at the FOZE route and thought Mike would not pull a trick like that, as we had done that one before, HOW wrong can one be. I think I will have to change Mike's name from Best Pal to Dick Dastardley
BEST PAL nice one.

Here goes for another round of your "favourite" quiz!
Here are horses, No 1
No 2
1) Name the horses 2) Technically both horses are "straight" and could have the same "label" applied to them, so which is it? That is which bloodline group do both have in common? 3) There is a pedigree link between the two, what is it?
Enjoy ....... perhaps!

Hi Jude,
True again, but not what I am looking for! Might I suggest a close look at the dam-lines of both horses? You might just spot something!

They are both SE?
They both have Ibn Yasmak in the 3rd generation on their damline - also both have strong Rodania lines - Rashad Ibn Nazeer's damline goes to Rodanie via Rose of Sharon, and Oran has at least 4 crosses to Rodania.
