Though of course I am not at the show, I do not know what horses Mario Gallagher is showing and what classes Michael Byatt is judging.

As far as I understand, Mario has worked for Michael Byatt in the USA, and he also went to work for a short time for Count Vichy Theisens's stud (sp) in the UK managed by Michael Byatt.

Is this a conflict of interest?

I think also that Rhodri Jones, Mark, Janine and maybe others have worked for Michael Byatt in the past but in my opinion Michael Byatt had very strong classes to judge (he obviously attracted extremely good entries), he took his time, wasn't afraid to change things around and judged very fairly. None of these handlers did better than expected. Just my opinion.

I agree with Heather. As a steward talking to the judges behind the scene Michael Byatt was very proffessional and seemed totally disinterested in handlers, as did the female judge. It was the horses presented to them on the day.

Apologies to everyone: according to ECAHO rules, no one contravened the rules about conflict of interest.
