We were calling our filly TEMIMI meaning perfect,but have been told that with an i at the end,its the male version,is this right? Thanks v. much

I have just had the book Authentic Arabian Horse Names,
'Perfection', without fault is filly: Fahdeelah pronounced Fah-Dee-Lah
colt: Fadel pronounced Fah-Del
I will also look in my arabic dictionary, and see if theres anything else like Temimi. |

Thanks Pat I found that Tamama means "perfection" and that temimi means "perfect"......different to yours why is this sort of thing so difficult?? Just when you have something you like......its wrong! Grrrrrr! |

some are egyptian or arabian or come from different regions... thats what it says in my book, so that they can be written/translated/spoken in english, hope this helps |

Strictly speaking the process is called transliteration, what you get is a word or words written using our western alphabet which approximate the sound of the spoken arabic original. Because there is no exact correlation, you can get lots of equally valid variations in spelling which would not occur in written arabic. It is in effect the pronounciation and not the spelling that matters!
