My mum was broken into last night and they stole all my mums jewellery, my grandma's jewellery, laptop, camcorder, dvd's etc.
I hate these burglars..shes so upset and doesn't know how she'll cope staying on her own when my dad is on nightshift!

Is your Mum OK? I't bad enough taking material thinks but when they take the things with sentimental value - things that can't be replaced, thats the lowest of the low!!!!!! I HATE them. They don't even think how they would react if they werew broken into - i hope they are now!
The other thing is you can't even defend your self anymore if someone breaks in and if they injure themselves whilst breaking in, THEY CAN SUE YOU! Is this world backward or what!!!?!?
In America you can shoot them, over here you can't even punch them without a heavy sentence.
And when they break into an elderly persons house... Don't even get me started THEY ARE SCUM!
I hope your Mum is alright though, My thoughts are with her |

Joyce,
Hope your Mum is OK? Sad thing is the person who did the robbing won´t get much for what he/she stole.
Tracey,
The law changed in January - you can defend yourself against an intruder - but you cannot hit them whilst they are running away (or shoot them)

How do they prove they were running away?
Joyce, I do hope your mum is OK. What a nasty violation of a persons private space. |

Just hope your poor Mum is ok.
Have the place security checked by the police and get them to advise on further measures such as alarms.
The Police here didn't seem to think a dog was a deterrent....but even when dog lovers realise we have a Dobermann and a German Shepherd they think twice! Since we've had the dogs we've had very few impromptu callers!!!
Oh I do so hope you are all feeling better soon as this sort of thing id such a dreadful violation.
All good wishes to you.
