Just thought i'd give you some feedback on the Hippus Bit as some of you had asked...
Well as of yesterday he isn't wearing it anymore
Shesk really has been going well in it over the last 6 weeks (total of time that i've had him)- he's been very happy in his mouth, merrily dribbling away and we haven't had any type of evading the contact (he's been wearing the H510)
BUT, they don't do a Pelham version So I had to think about what I was going to do: I am seriously into Dressage and only plan on going to about 3 Showing Shows this year so want to be able to stick to the snaffle and then just pop in the Pelham as and when I need it.
Pasha wears the NS Tranz Lozenge Snaffle (Hanging Cheek) and the Sprenger RS Dynamic Pelham with the same mouthpeice and doesn't notice the difference. So I thought i'd just stick it in Shesk (now that he's settled in a bit) and see what happens?
What can I say but WOW WOW WOW!!! He went absolutely fantastically!!! I thought he liked the Hippus but he LOVES the NS Lozenge! Bless him, he was soo SOFT and LIGHT it felt like I was riding a GP horse and at no time did I even have to think about what I was doing with my hands - just all felt perfect!
Ooh. Might try one out. Have had two not very successful trials of Mylers. One was much too strong (Myler combination) and one was scarily like having absolutely no control whatsoever (Spider much enjoyed that hack). I need a bit that gives a little more control than the French link snaffle we are normally in (for exciting endurance adventures) but still nice and narrow and preferably one that comes in a 5 1/4 inch. Will look the NS lozenge up..
The NS is quite thick on the outside and gets thinner towards the middle - the Sprenger RS Dynamic is thinner!
They are mild bits though so not sure if they will help with brakes - luckilly for me, both of mine are very good and as soon as I say 'slowly' they slow, bless them!!!
