Have just found out that sandbourne royal ensign has had to be put down due to deteriating health, all of us on here who breed partbreds, ponies and horses, will know of the importance this pony stallion has had on the showing world, please join me in sending condolenses to all who were part of his life. RIP Sandbourne royal ensign.x

Robert will be gutted.........He adored this stallion, as was so obvious when one visited the Stud. An amazing stockgetter, who had a long and happy life. He leaves a legacy of beautiful ponies, to carry on his famous bloodlines
Enjoy the peace on the other side of the Rainbow Bridge Ensign, you will not be forgotten

I love this picture of Dinky (sandbourne royal ensign) aged 27 taken from the website, it shows him in his new home in australia, even as an old gentleman his quality shone through!

I am really sad to hear he has passed away and I feel for his connections .
But oh what a stallion he was! Surely one of the very best in recent history!!
I am new to pony and part bred breeding and I have a little welsh part bred mare related to him. When I look at her I think she is very much the Ensign type (fab movement, big front and lovely temperament).
RIP Sandbourne Royal Ensign , you have ensured (through your progeny) that you could never be forgotten. Your contribution to the equine world will I hope be celebrated !!
