Oh damn !!! You never know Jill might get to hear where she went. I'm trying Turners who is up this way.....many horses end up there !! But no joy yet. Does anyone know Potters in Taunton ?? Perhaps worth a phone call/visit ?? Also trying to get throught to Wentwood Livestock in Newport - they deal and might know something ?? Stabbing in the dark abit but you never know what you might find. Last time I did this for a friend I ended up buying a partbred mare from Turners 'Serenincla' - great jumping pony but boy did she buck !! |

I know of two dealers in South Wales that regularly visit Llanybydder - Dan Doran and Clive Howells. Does anybody know them to call and ask if they knew who bought them? I would doubt they bought them as I think they only deal in riding horses and would avoid a mare and foal. I dont have any phone numbers for them, but maybe someone here does?

I've just been advised by "someone" that if anyone on here is interested in buying the mare & foal they should contact the auctioneer advising them that they want to buy the mare/foal and ask the auctioneer to contact the purchaser - he suggested that an offer a fair bit greater than the "sold" price would encourage the new owner to part with the mare/foal - he says MONEY TALKS !! Don't know if it will work but maybe worth a try. I think someone said earlier that the auction house "couldn't say" - but they must know who it is. You never know, this might just work. |

This first post on here to let people know about these arabs are going through that sales yet no one helped them or bought them even some of you were there and can advert on arabianlines afterward if you can not keep them as will find new homes through here!i have offered to buy them but only need someone buy them first as im too far from llanybydder sales.
If the palomino mare was that thin and if the owner who used to own the mare and foal post or read on here, shame on you!
Can ask auction that you need to contact the owner who bought them as you used to own it,need contact them to pass on info or got their papers as a excuse to get them give you the numbers??? to check they have gone to good home or gone to yet other dealers where you can buy them and find right homes for them if even you can not keep them! |

Hi I have been reading this topic with interest and although we are miles from wales, we may in the future (next couple of months) on moving to new self contained yard be interested in getting another pony- if shulay montana can be found we may be able to offer a very loving (if shabby!) home for life any home checks etc would be welcome , I can't bear to think of how such a beautiful animal ends up in such condition it beggars belief- I can't believe RSPCA or the like didn't stop her going in the ring |

Maybe it is better that Montana went to the sale, we can only hope that she has gone to a better home than she had before and that her poor little colt will be OK.
I don't think tha auctioneers are allowed to give out purchaser's names to just anyone and also they might not be too keen on someone then offering the new owner considerably more than they sold it for as they lose out on commision.
It sounds like an awful sale; there used to be one around here, I am told, that sold horses in pitiful conditions, but the "travellers" went there and there was a lot of trouble, fights etc, so it closed down. There is still one at Cambridge but I think that is OK, haven't heard bad reports about it.
Taranstorm, I think your post is rather harsh on those who went to the sale. They may not have been in a position to buy a horse as it has to be moved after the sale; where do you put a horse without any facilities to keep it? Leave it in the trailer until you can sell it on? When you offered to buy them I don't recall seeing a price you were willing to pay and what the arrangements were for the horse once someone at the sale had bought the horses. I am not knocking you but it is unfair to point the finger at those who went to the sale for not buying the horses, not manty people have the facilities or the money to just buy a horse at the drop of a hat, especially now with the economic crisis and feed getting more expensive by the day.
Had I been there (can't as I live at the opposite side of the country) I have adequate grazing but no stables spare and to turn a starved mare and foal out on lush grazing 24/7 is asking for problems. If the mare went down with laminitis what do I do? I can't afford to pay full livery somewhere for her let alone the vets fees and don't have a spare stable to put her (and foal) in.

I'm following this thread and getting confused, I didn't think Shulay Montana had a foal a foot, and that it was a welsh palamino with the foal, |

It wasn`t stated in the catalogue that she did but if you read the other thread "pally mare" i pasted the description of her that was in the catalogue & you`d have thought she was fit & in show condition the way it was worded ! |

A friend of mine knows one of the ladys who works in the auctioneers office, i might try & give her a ring later & see if she can find out if the mare was actually forward, there seems to be alot of confusion as to whether she actually was or not (i still think not if the horse in question went through ring 2 as she was entered for ring 1!). Or if anyone on here is a member of Cardigan Bay riding club & gets on well with the lady who runs it you can try asking her yourself! |

I know she was lot 61 & the lady who saw her there is a pally judge & used to breed pallys ,she`s also a friend of the Gribbens who bred her ! She told me that 2 other members of the Palomino society both saw her there aswell. Both a friend & myself rang the auctioneers yesterday & they confirmed that Montana was sold but wouldn`t disclose who`d bought her ! There was a Pally Welsh A mare & foal there aswell !

Ah i see, i thought no one was sure if she was there or not, sorry my minds all over the place at the mo. Well hopefully you will get to the bottom of it & find her, all you can do is ask Evans to forward your details on to any interested parties, they will do that if you ask them. I'll keep my fingers & toes crossed she is ok & has found herself a lovely home. Would it be worth me cross posting this to another forum i go on as it is a predominately Welsh sale & someone on there may have seen who bought her? |

My friend asked them if they`d contact the new owners & give her name & phone number but they told her that they couldn`t ! It`ll be great if they`ve gone to a good home but we were worried incase a dealer had bought them . Yes please if you could that would be great ...you never know ! I was wondering whether to give Fiona Livermore from the Doylan stud a ring incase she was there as she has Pallys aswell ! |

Fiona is usally at the sale, i think shes been there everytime ive been, id give her a ring plus she also knows alot of people in the area. Its strange that Evans wont pass on your details as they have done it for me & other people in the past? Very odd! Will post this over to the othersite now, ive alreay mentioned her on another post, but wont hurt for her to have her own post! |

I`ve just rung Fiona & she said she was going to bid for her but she went up to £720 , she said she wouldn`t be with a dealer for that money ! (which was a very good price considering her condition) Apparently a TB mare with a foal at foot & infoal again only made £300 & another TB mare made £100 Fiona said she didn`t have a foal at foot & was being ridden around outside by a big heavy man but she was looking very poor & you could see her spine sticking up ! Hopefully someone has given her the home she deserves ! |

If she is registered with the AHS, then maybe they could forward a message to her previous owner or even her new owner if the ownership is transfered enquiring after her, |
