I've been a vet nurse for almost 15 years now (gulp!). I now work part time at an out of hours emergency clinic. Lets just say, the highs are very high, and the lows unbelievably low. The list of lows is probably 10 times the length of the list of highs, but every high is worth 100 times more than all the lows put together. You never get used to the sadness of life (and we're not just talking animals here, you get involved in all sorts of human sadness too), and if you did, you'd be rubbish at your job. So, if you don't mind bloody hard work, getting covered in bodily fluids on a dialy basis, long hours, crap pay, you have a sense of humour, dedication and drive to work with animals AND people (with pets come their people!), go for it! It can be one of the best jobs in the world. Best of luck in whatever you decide PM me if you'd like any more information, or i cna help you in any way. Ros x |
