Welcome to little Midge (Templars Mystic Shadow) who arrived at 2am this morning. A wonderful little filly from our Premium Cleveland Bay stallion (Mysticfold Charming Boy - Piers) out of our Al Sood daughter (Oakthwaite Shamtar - Shammy).
Piers has retained his 100% record of producing all fillies.
Shammy has had a bit of a sad history foaling wise. Before we got her, she had produced 2 pure bred colt foals, one of which tragically had to be pts. Then with us, she scanned not in foal and produced a stunning filly two months early that had to be pts. So, we decided to outcross to another breed to see if that would help and it has.
They have produced a thumping great filly - these photos were taken when Midge was just 6 hours old - already trying to eat straw and skipping about. And Shammy just looks so complete and happy to have a live foal to lick and nuzzle.
Sire: Premium Cleveland Bay Stallion, Mysticfold Charming Boy, 16.2
Dam: Oakthwaite Shamtar, black pure bred mare, in the junior handler class in 2005 with Evie
and introducing - little Midge - Templars Mystic Shadow who will hopefully partner Evie at events in the future!
Certainly not lacking in bone!!!!!!
Should get a decent length of rein?!
And will try and look pretty! LOL
Like all Clevelands, she looks plain as a baby but will dry out to something quite handsome! (don't think you could ever call a Cleveland feminine!)

Thanks Jamana
here he is doing some dressage:
He was the youngest stallion in the history of the Cleveland Bay Horse Society to achieve his full Premium. He was Champion at Midlands in Hand as a 2 year old where the judge wasn't convinced he was pure - she thought he had some warmblood in him because he has such rounded movement.
He has the most super temperament and used to travel on a trailer with Evie's little pony (a mare), no problems.
If Midge can turn out as a lighter weight version of him, I'll be thrilled!
I have his 9 year old daughter out of my pure bred mare who raced. And his 3 year old grandson - I put his daughter back to my Imad son so his grandson is a beautiful dappled grey 16.0 3 year old who will come out eventing next year. |

Hi Jean
He's Borderfame Prince Charming x Stainmore Rose Hip. Thankfully he hasn't grown as heavy as some - we've tried to keep him athletic!
Now Evie is starting to compete the stallions, we may take him out to a couple of events - till now he's just done BSJA.
Alicia
You're so right - she was sooo curled up - all that body and legs to fit in poor Shammy. She looks much more "ironed out" today! Her hocks were a little bit cramped but they've straightened up really well today and she doesn't look quite so hunched!

Thank you for the extra pics of that stallion. He is really nice. I wonder what all the anti-CB people would make of him
I had a look at him on the CB soc website and I do like him, there are some nice horse on there as well. I must just say though how refresing it was to be able to look at stallions that were stood up so you could see their conformation, rather than be confronted with pictures of stallions taken from behind with the head turned to look at the camera, or stretched out so much their hind foot is only tiptoe on the ground, or even shots with no legs at all!! or maybe just a face shot.............. |

What a beautiful combination; I have to agree that your CB stallion is a very handsome chap - dare I say not as 'heavy' in the head as some. He really is breathtaking.
Wonderful that at last Shammy has a baby to fuss over. And doesn't she (baby) look like dad?
