I've been doing the ridden arab class at the local show this season for a bit of fun (go to do the dressage, but decided to make a day of it and do a showing class too).
At the last show, we qualified for the premier riding club championships in July, and in a fit of madness I have decided to go and have sent off the entry form.
I'm a bit worried about looking out of place, so can anyone help me? What is expected of you in the class, ideas for a suitable individual show etc?
Also, my current kit is: Blue tweed, navy hat, navy tie with little squares on it, white shirt, beige breeches, black long boots, spurs, and black gloves.
The horse wears brown tack (a pelham bridle, WH saddle with brown saddlecloth) and I carry a brown show cane.
Is this all correct for an Arab class? Should my gloves match my boots (black), tack (brown) or hat/jacket (blue)?
I guess my hat should match my jacket, is that correct?
And should the ned wear a coloured browband?
Any help most appreciated!

thanks Ash, I think you may be right. I will invest in some brown gloves. Does anyone know if blue tweed is ok? Someone mentioned that it should really be green tweed? |

I too would appreciate some advice! I will be entering my first ridden class with my four year old in two weeks. Unfortunatly I have a black GP saddle as it was the only one we could get to fit her correctly! She is currently being worked in a loose ring french link snaffle...do I have to have a pelham? What do I do for the individual show piece....do I just walk, trot and canter on both reins? |
