I am thinking of new things to do with Eba as she has totally settled down to wearing a bridle and is definitely one who looks for new things to do.
My thoughts are loading and long lining. So on this front:- - Does anyone have any preferences on travel boots for an arab? I thought it would be interesting to get her used to these separate to loading
- I have been looking at long lining kit and wondered if anyone had found any particular brands/tyes of rollers/cavessons/long reins to be better or worse than any other. For the time being I am not intending to do any real schooling with her, but did want to get her used to wearing a roller and then maybe start going out for walks in this manner - with a person leading of course!
My personal preference is NOT travel boots but bandages. I find that sometimes the travel boots slip down & the horse then tries to kick them off - see what others prefer?
Hi just introduced my 2 year old to Amigo cob sized travel boots today. Fit was good and no problems with slippage in spite of some initial leg waving! Would have to agree if you have the time and skill bandaging is best, but my bandages tend to slip more than boots do
If you're opting for boots I'd get the flat square ones (soft, not shaped) with lots of velcro straps on them so you can fit them to her legs, rather than making her fit into the rigid ones (which are often very noisy as they flex or touch each other). I've got soft shires ones I use on all the babies. And we also have horses in their 20s who wil not wear boots or tail bandage. If she's the sort to try kick them off a boot comes off in 1 go, a bandagae is a nightmare! Or just all round brushing/fetlock boots and overreach boots, hack boots too - you'll need them for the LR and walking out work anyway. Roller - well, you need ot see it on her to check fit - some are sO iver stuffed and rings are in all wrong places. Cavessons move and are hot - use a good headcollar and save the pennies.

I use the "Ken Taur" stable/travel wraps as they don't go over the hock joint - my youngster travels fine in these, he didn't like the full length jobs at all and was definately going to get them off at any cost
