Hi, it probably wont sound much, but as a first time youngster owner and a first time arab owner I would like to share my successful day!
This morning Mali, who will be 2 in May, learnt to wear his travel boots for the first time. We did one leg at at time, allowing him to to get used to the strange feeling of the boot gripping his leg. Bless him the only reaction was a gentle trot in a circle, once round was enough for him to realise it was strange but not scary. Smart or what! Absolutely no
So we worked up to having both front boots on then had a break. Afterwards we did the back legs one at a time, there was a little more leg shaking but again soon he settled and then had both back legs on. After another break all four boots went on and he wandered around grazing as if nothing new had happened. What an
After 2 or 3 hours down time, I decided that as it was such an nice day a ride was in order so Mali and grandad Trooper were duly loaded into the trailer for Malis first proper outing. He has been out ride and lead before and out in a trailer before but never done both together.
A mile down the road and Mali walked off the trailer in new surroundings as cool as a cucumber, stood like a rock while Troops got his saddle on and off we went. OH who came along took a couple of photos, hope I manage to upload them ok....
I cant believe how lucky I have been with Mali, his temperament is incredible, even meeting the scary monster (below) a couple of sniffs was enough to reassure him. He was completely chilled about every new experience thrown at him today and never put a foot out of place. I still cant believe how lucky I am to have him and how intelligent and easy he is to train. Mali, take a
Doh! No photos, I'll try again.....

Lovely! What special boys you have. Mali is gorgeous - how is he bred? I still gush at my boys and they are 13 and 5 respectively |

Hi, yes just couldn't help the gushing Given my inexperience of youngsters and arabs (plenty of horse experience just elsewhere!) I was gob smacked how well he coped with it all.
He is Bey Shemali by Ganemede (Gai Radiant/Gai Beisha) out of Gold Selene (Golden Cavalier/Saphira). Im a self confessed ignoramous about these things but high Crabbet I think (maybe 85%ish).
Dont ask about Trooper, his breeding is lost in the mists of time! If I had to guess I would say quite a lot of Clydesdale.... |

Great, fabulous experience for him to go out with Trooper like that. Makes it so much easier when you're on his back. Lovely horses! |

Lovely and clever boy! Beautiful breeding. I shall tell Tina Cooke next time I speak to her how good he is. Ganemede produces such lovely temperaments and mum will have a good one too. |

Thank you all for your very kind comments, I adore them both and they have been told there is only one way they are escaping my clutches LOL. Even then they will be buried in their field (dont tell DEFRA!).
Seeing as you can see his bum and ribs in the photos and I am a novice where youngsters are concerned I would really appreciate any comments re his condition? Is he a bit to fat or thin? I may manage to get him to a show or two later on this summer but it will be purely for education purposes, my main concern is that he developes appropriately. He is an extremely good do'er!!!!
Thanks in advance, Alison |

Yeah.....well done you and what an old trooper that Trooper is ideal schoolmaster for showing the `new kid on the block` what life in the outside world is all about, and teaching him respect.
Your young man looks really happy and relaxed.....he certainly is one Arab that is enjoying life, the easy way..
Thanks for sharing
