In our aviary we have 2 budgies (supposed to be both male) and 2 finches which are male and female. When my OH went in to clean out this morning the white budgie is in the nest box sitting on 2 eggs! Which is most likely, the budgie is Rambette and not Rambo or it is sitting on finch eggs?
According to my OH whos brother used to breed budgies, it's most likely that one of your budgies is female. The skin around the nostrils above the beak is blue for a boy and brown for a girl, the brown also gets darker when they are in breeding mode. They're not Cadburys mini eggs by any chance are they
I agree with Lanabanana; adult budgies can easily be differentiated by the colour of the nares (nostrils) - blue for boys and brown for girls. I hope you solve the mystery!
