My barefoot trimmer owns Bij Bij - although I think she is on loan at the moment. She is a lovely grey mare - mainly Crabbet I think. I will get her to put a picture on if she has one. I am pretty sure her pedigree is on Allbreedpedigree. |

Shalkar AHS Premium Stallion Mehneer/Sherasa 15.1 Grey Performance tested, successful at Dressage, showjumping and part of the Arabian Knights Team Chase Team, also competed Endurance, this horse had type and talent. Lucky you to have these boys!! Are you competing them? |

I have loads of pix of Shalkar, ridden by his owner Linda Hannaford, and some of him being ridden by those of us lucky enough to have cared for him/ridden him after Linda died.
I can't post all here and there will be some on the Performance Arabians thread. But here's one or two from the Milbrook Archive. He was a fabulously versatile ridden horse and was one of Linda's Arabian Knights who did lots of show jumping, hunter trialling and team chasing. I have a video here of the Knights team chasing; hopefully one day you might be able to see it. I'm still trying to get it put on DVD but waiting for a rather busy son to show willing/find time!!
If you send your email address I'll try to send you others that you might find interesting.
A bit younger

Hi Phoenixbruka I was the person who was lucky enough to train Shalkar for Linda once he arrived with Linda. He was a very easy and sweet natured horse with a very good sense of humour. He also did very well ridden showing and dressage. I took him to the Nationals as a Novice (when novice classess were mixed gelding and stallion) and he was second overall and top stallion. He was good at dressage too and I competed him up to and at elementary - which was really his limit. He did us proud at the stallion NASTA testing doing a wonderful dressage test and show jumping. Unfortunately due to his age he had a large % of marks discounted which seems unfair when he wasnt backed until 9 years old! He was a joy to ride and compete on - he was the baby of the Arabian Knights, but always very careful. HOwever he could be nervous sometimes about some jumps and occasionally he had an off day. He also got very bored with both ridden and in-hand showing - he loved to show off but on his own terms - not being sent around a ring! Hope this helps |

Thanks loads Azeer yes thats really nice to hear what a good allrounder he was and that he was happy with it as well
Bosyie is just so brave and such a happy chappy, easy to back and is coming on leaps and bounds in his ridden work, he'll be 4 net month and will hopefully be out under saddle this season, we've just done our 1st ever pleaseure ride at Osberton and he was amazingly well behaved for such a baby we're doing another one at chatsworth soon and our 1st show is on may bank holiday weekend so onwards and upwards for us hopefully
Thanks again for the lovely pictures and info |
