Just looking at the entries for The High Peak Point-to-Point this coming Tuesday. In the Hunt Members is Razeem Ibn Khalid. He is a 12 years old pure-bred Arab by Kahlid (Kulak/Misha Malieh) ex Amaryllis Belladonna bred by Michael Harris by The Prince of Orange. He was bred by Andrea Wallace (who I seem to remember was a long distance runner?). I've been going to Flagg races for decades now (first time was 1971)and this Arab entry is I believe a first. The Hunt Members is run over typical High Peak (Derbyshire) land - stone walls and is a long and arduous race. Although Point-to-Pointers are TBs non-TBs regularly compete for this member's race - they are regular hunters and come in all shapes and sizes and usually carry lbs overweight! There are 7 entries and usually most turn up to run. So I will let you know more after Tuesday and if he's there I will find out more about him and of course get some photos - he might be a good addition to the perfomance Arabs thread! Can't wait to see this grandson of Kulak - who was one of my favourites to photo at Brian Blake's!!
Here's a link to the website for the meeting: www.flaggraces.co.uk
He's also a 1/2 brother to Am I Dreaming and Lord Amaral whose sire is Blacklord Caesaro - another blast from the past who I used to enjoy photographing at Woodlay Arabians.

Well don't put all your spare cash on him! Henry Tartar is the expected favourite to win! Have you been before? Last year I bumped into Chris James there. |

Hopefully the weather will be a bit kinder than recent years and there will be enough runners to make it competitive! I remember my first ever visit there and it snowed! ONCE and I repeat ONCE it was very hot and I remember sunbathing lying on the rocks in between the races! It's a tough course and after each race the horses have a very steep climb back up to the paddock area - which has me puffing too! It is a truely unique experience in the world of racing so anyone near enough (just south of Buxton) come and enjoy a day at the races in the splendid Derbyshire countryside and hopefully cheer on a Pure-bred Arab! |

Hey Marilyn, I'm in the middle of making a picnic lunch for extended family at Sandon P-T-Point tomorrow.
It's not usually this late (or is Easter early??) so won't be doing Flagg as well this week. No money left for bets!
Although had second and third on the National! Also think weather (as usual) is bad for Flagg - I've been there for over 55yrs and it's NEVER been good, usually snowing! But think you'll be spared that!
They have a pony race at Sandon - last on the card - and last year it was won by a part bred Arab, shall report back if he's there again.
See you soon, C x. |

Hello Chris! North Staffs at Sandon and Vale of Lune at Whittington are ALWAYS Easter Saturday - that's set in stone!!! As is Flagg Easter Tuesday. Hence I am always at the Lune as it is my favourite course ... covering it for HandH - have rarely visited Sandon - only when they had another meeting which didn't clash - which is a shame as it's a nice course. I can't believe you're not going to Flagg - HOW can you miss it??!! A picnic there would be very memorable ...!! For the first time in years our family had no National bets in the first 5 - I think a 13th was our best! I think I used up all my luck backing Heavy Weather at Bangor to get some money for Al Karif! There are pony races at the Lune too but last years debut lot were more Thelwell than Arab!!! Have a re-think!! See you soon! Marilyn X |

Just back! I'm pleased to report that Razeem came and is absolutely lovely! He finished a creditable 6th and was the smallest one in the race. He jumps for fun and behaved perfectly. His owner was fascinated to hear about the interest in him and will be logging on maybe tomorrow! I'll try and post a photo soon (lovely one of him in full flight over a wall) but have now been at 3 point-to-points and one show in the last 4 days!!! |

Yes, as it wasn't snowing this time - I did go!
The first time ever there that I didn't need 6 layers of clothing!and it was brilliant, although the members race (run over stone walls) started in the mist and behind two stands of trees - so visibility wasn't great to start with - but our little Arab put in a grand effort, and finished well - the horses can take their own route over the walls and there were several different schools of thought on that - with 3 different tracks being taken.
Great fun, lovely weather, fabulous scenery and a couple of winners -so in profit too. |

Wow, lovely pics.
So amazing as I am certain we foaled this chap down here in Devon!! At one point Andrea kept her mares with us, house move I think? We had the lovely 'Willis' here and she popped out a colt one night with absolutely no warning.......she never waxed up, (little Angel)
If he has a Prophet's thumbprint then it is him.
Amazing how they turn up in the most unlikely places. He has done well bless him. Great to see him.
