We have been waiting for news all day on our family in L'Aquila; we have tragically lost Noami along with her grandmother on the other side of their family; she was my cousin and the same age as me. Still missing is her dad Wolframo, we wait for news on him.
In the last 1/2 hr we have heard that my aunt Edea, her other children Tonya and Fabrizio and their partners and children are safe but shaken up, the houses in and around L'Aquila are not safe and therefore along with the rest of the town, they are in surrounding fields in make shift camps and children are sleeping in cars to keep warm.
The rest of our family was 25 mins away in our village - Civitaretenga - half the village has gone, our house is still standing but it will be a long while before they let people live there as they check the foundations are safe..these villages are hundreds of years old. Our family from there (which is most of the village) have been evacuated and we have been told to stay in london until they know where they will settle for a short while; my dad is beside himself for not being able to get on a plane to be with his brothers and sisters in their hours of loss and worry for the missing.
Please send positive vibes for all affected by this awful tradegy...

Thanks for the kind thoughts...my 31 year old cousin Noami was killed, her dad, my uncle, was missing when i went to bed last night but was found in a field hospital with minor injuries this morning but is now devastated at the loss of his daughter. The rest of his family from L’Aquila are now homeless as their houses were demolished but at least they are alive.
The family 25mins up the road in Civita where our house is have been evacuated, our house is still standing apparently but they won’t know if they are structurally safe for a few weeks. They are all sleeping in tents and cars in fields. My mum and dad want to go but have been told not to as they don’t want two more people sleeping in fields plus my dad has his kidney surgery scheduled for next Friday...it never rains.
Lets hope they continue tob find more people alive in the rubble over the next few days... |

| SO sorry, Nut... I saw some pictures today in a local paper and was horrified at how bad it was. Thank God most of your family is basically okay but I am so sorry for the loss of your cousin. |

| Awful.I have a friend in Bologne who felt it all but not at that magnitude. She is keeping me updated and they have just pulled another woman out after 48 hours.So sorry for your loss and my heart goes out to everybody concerned during such devastating times. |
