" You will probably never have enough strength in your right arm to be able to ride again" I was told 2.30am one early Monday morning lying in a hospital bed following my riding accident in September last year. And so did other consultants when checking my x rays each week, they were all extremely negative. Well! On the 22nd March HT Orient and I just completed a short 20 mile endurance ride at Sherwood Forest and wow! what an adrenalin rush. He was strong yes but I always had control, it was fast, fearless and FUN! We were back. Gosh, I was on such a high following a brilliant ride in super weather. Then yesterday at Ullswater in the Lakes, another beautiful ride over the hills and fells, through the river, gorgeus sunshine and what another magnificent endurance ride we had. Orion did test my arm all right on both rides but I am so happy to say there are no pains or aches at all. I am still 'drunk' with euphoria over a wonderful start to my Endurance season. Orion was a very good boy as he can be spirited but we looked after each other, I gave him a good talk before both rides and I am sure he knew where I was coming from and he behaved impeccably though at times he almost forgot himself as he was enjoying himself so much that he didn't realise he didn't need to go at 100mph most of the time !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Anyway, I think I shall send my consultants the photos when they come out. Just thought I would share this with you as I was so grateful for all the support you gave me at the time of the accident.

Hey fantastic news! You were always very determined though about this and you're a very brave person. Perhaps dealing with your menagerie all winter has strengthened your arm too??
So glad you've recovered so well and had such a wonderful start to the season. AND congratulations for winning your special area championship with your handsome and versatile boy! I think you should post a picture of him! (On here and the performance section!).
Big hugs! |
