As a member of Arabian Lines, I have been asked to post on behalf of her family and close friends:
'Very sadly Marcia Manfredi died last week at her home in Cornwall surrounded by her adoring husband Tony and daughters Sam and Nina. She had fought cancer so bravely for many months but died peacefully. Many will remember her involvement in showing in the late 1970's and then her enthusiasm and participation in racing. She was always an enthusiastic arab horse owner, a mother, wife and friend'.

Such very sad news - she was our friend for over 33 years and was brave and dignified through it all. Much love and hugs to Tony and Sam and Nina. Linda Churchill and Barbara Syer |

Our condolences to Marcia's family. She will be greatly missed by everyone in the South West especially.
I remember her judging at Malvern one year she looked absolutely so glamorous, but she always looked so incredibly smart.
Sad news again from you Jane. |

For those who know little of Marcia Manfredi - her interest and involvement with arab horses started in the late 1970's when she bought a chestnut colt by Rajmek called Jairan Jhonti - after some initial showing and breeding with him she was hooked and founded the Knoll Stud together with her first husband Paul Crocker. She went on to buy Sky Silhouette and Elfin Sky from Lady Anne Townshend's Sky Arabian Stud - they were successfully shown as young horses and later became her future broodmares. Marcia bred some very succesful racehorses including - Silkhan and Silvena by Klarnet and Ecliptic by Vadeer. She also bought in some young horses who were outstanding - King Tut bred at Joan Ratcliffe's Claverdon Stud who raced in UK and was then sold to Saudi Arabia, Apollo Sky who was bred at Lady Townshend's Sky Stud and had a successful racing and showing career in UK and Qatar, and Vadeer bred at Jane Kadri's Al Waha Stud who had an outstanding racing career in UK and Dubai and is now standing at Heritage Stud in UK. She later founded Towerwood Arabians with second husband Tony Manfredi and bred many more good horses. Marcia was very involved in racing both as an owner and as a member of several committees- particuarly promotion and sponsorship. She was Clerk of the Course for several years at AHS meetings at Goodwood. She was also an AHS judge at county level and at AHS Malvern.
