Aww great Vera.
Yours are always a week or so earlier than ours. Good Luck, and hopefully you have a couple of successful broods.
We have just put up some of the swallow nests we bought from the rspb, and a couple of house martin ones under the eves of the house. Last year, the repair work was not brilliant by the swallows, and a couple of the chicks toppled out when stretching for food. With the second brood, I kept a large rubber skip bucket with foam in, underneath, so when/if they fell out, I could pop them back in. It worked because exiting the nest was not intentional.!!
That particular nest was in the rug stable by the way, so I was able to do the skip thing!!
Shall keep my eyes and ears peeled now |

Well Vera,
it's taken them a long time to get from Hampshire to South Wiltshire but on my way home from work this afternoon I saw 2 House Martins! Great jubilation - summer is here at last. Pat - have yours arrived yet? I hope they haven't arrived in Staffs before Wiltshire!!!

Jan,
Mine arrived evening before last.
Roosted in Taklimakans stable first night, but on the new rspb nest last night, so it looks like they have accepted it
Hope you and yours are well. |

Just seen my first one---hopefully the first of many---wheeling triumphantly over the house announcing her arrival before diving into the outbuildings. They have further to come to get up here |

Ours have suddenly appeared out of nowhere. Loads swooping around to get all the flies that have also appeared. Will have to remember to park my car the other side of the cartlodge until they go! B
