Mine was simple, i did originally want Oakdale as the land my horses run on was called Oakdale on past land maps but it was already taken! so you have to put down three choices, my second was Elmdale (which i got) and lastly sticking with the tree theme Ashdale. |

Mine was a bit like that too, the place our 1st foal was born over 20 years ago was hurstpark farm and hurstpark road, so we used Hurstpark and got it and never used any think else then that even since. Ceri x |

Mine was a complete mistake. We were living on the edge of the WIERTON Estate in Kent and when we ordered a new nameplate for the gate it came back mis-spelt. I decided that as a stud name I liked it better. I noticed that show secretaries in Kent very often corrected it for me in the catalogue though.

Our prefix is Alkara which is from Al (my partner Alistair) KA (me, Karen) and RA (for Rose Aboud, foundation mare and Queen of the Farm!).
Luckily it looked "araby" too

Well mine is simple, with a 'twist'
My place is in Chapel Lane, Romsley but I actually bought my very first pure bred Arabian from Chapel Lane, Aldridge from VJC's sister many, many years ago around 1986ish!
How weird is that |

Hi hubby nicknamed Billy Billy big balls at birth as I said I wanted to keep him entire. Obviously I couldn't call him that, as he is kept in Yawl hill lane we decided to call hill Yawl Hillbilly and from that cal our stud name Yawl Hill stud. If all goes well we move to a house 200yds from the fields in April Kirsty |

I chose Acorn as from little Acorns big oaks grow. Also the irony of Acorns and horses stays in people heads. |

My Farm has the Little Dart river along the boundary of my land - and I had just bred a Dartmoor Filly and needed a prefix. |

When our first homebred Anglo was born, it was a glorious sunny day and as we sat deciding foal names, Seranata was chosen if we had a filly. We then decided we wanted to incorporate our surname "Ray" into our prefix and that we wanted all our foals names to begin with "S"......so, on such a bright sunny day....it clicked...SUNRAY
Have to say over the many years we have been breeding, and probably had a 60/40 ratio of fillies.......we are starting to run out of really feminine names beginning with "S" Our current yearling Anglo colt is Sunray Stepaside (Milo) Our TB mare Sunray Sheer Silk is due to foal in four weeks to Sunray Saristocrat....so any suggested names beginning with "S" which would suit a hack foal, would be most welcome

Our came from Holy Blood Holy Grail and the Knights Templar who guarded the secrets. Seeing as we had the highly unfashionable (at the time) Crabbet and Old English bloodlines - we chose Templars as hoping to preserve the old bloodlines.
Now all updated of course because of the Da Vinci code but we chose ours twenty years ago. |

Hi
Mine came from my dads name Roy, my mums Marg and me Nic "Romarnic".
We call all ours Romarnic then a name beginning with "R".
We have a foal due in a week by Farilyn Gemini out of our premium mare Brox Lady Arabella, any ideas on an "R" name would be good.
Like Babs after years of breeding you start to run out!

It was my husband Len who chose our name, taken from the first part of the name of our first brood mare - at the time we didn't know that the name we chose actually means 'enchanting' in Arabic. I love it

Never used a prefix or name - but we did name ourselves in a moment of madness! I bought my first two mares, both grey, and also had my PBA grey gelding. We joked about keeping them clean, and on the drive home with my lovely JC Petradina (grey!!) Mum made a comment about the fact that my new grey herd would permanently be "dirty little arabs" Well...3 guesses what DLA stands for then.... |

Not a prefix but we met some people with a bright chestnut Arab called Jafa once and when we asked if it was after Jaffa Cakes, we were told it stood for ... Just Another F***ing Arab!!!! |

Our stud name 'Mystique' originally came to mind because of one of our mares, Misteeqa.. shes very special to us! However further consideration of the term mystique convinced us it would be a lovely and fitting name for the Arabian horse!! So our jingle for the stud is.. "Having a spiritual significance that transcends human understanding.. Inspiring a sense of awe and fascination" LOL!! |

My stud name came about as I rescued my first arab mare, Evening Snowdrop, and so Thalj (snow in arabic), became my stud name. |
