Help!
I need to get bog standard interior paint off brickwork.
The current lean to on the back of my house is 6m long and the house wall inside it was painted (not by me!). Our new conservatory will only be 3.5m long, so part of this painted wall will be external again - I need to get the paint off, but don't want to sand blast or render the wall, so any tips on how to get the paint off!!

Someone out there must be a budding DIY'er with some ideas? |

Maybe use a power washer or a wire brush....have you looked round a DIY store and asked if they have any chemicals that will help lift the paint off the wall without damaging the brickwork/mortar. |

I did get some out with Nitromores and a tooth brush and lots of persistance. SOme bits of brick that were very porous I couldn't get a totally clean finish, but it was good enough for what I wanted. The main challenge is that Nitromores is very stinky and I ended up with a couple of burns where I got it on my skin.
Otherwise, don't know if you could get people in to sand blast - have seen it take paint off old fashioned radiators and old beams. Not sure how expensive it is but do know it is very messy. The sand gets everywhere.
Hope that helps. B |

Thanks for the replies so far.
We've ruled out sand blasting as it takes a load of cement with it and we'll be finding sand everywhere for ages!
I've had a look at the paint strippers on the shelves at B&Q but reluctant to buy them incase they don't work - they're not exactly cheap!
We're not fussed if it doesn't all come off as we can put trellis up the wall to disguise any odd bits. |

have you tried a steamer to soften it then very carefully scrape with warm soapy water and a scourer? |
