For all those who helped with advice and followed the discussions in a previous thread regarding our horse who for no apparent reason started scrambling with his front legs up the side walls of our Trailer - here is the outcome.
I am not suggesting our actions will help every horse, but for us our plan so far has worked so therefore if my feedback can help others, here goes.
Taranto was using an Ifor Williams 510 his is a16.2 Andalusian prior to the 510 we had a 505 but brought the bigger trailer to give him more room. He traveled well for at least 8 months and then started scrambling. We immediately stopped traveling him in the 510 and borrowed our friends Ifor Williams 505 which he cannot scramble the walls as he is too big and the trailer too narrow. Since November he has now become settled and traveling very well again. We have now sold our 510 and have brought the New Ifor Williams 506 which gives him the height of the 510 but not the width.
Taranto seems to be a lot happier being support by the walls and the centre partion of the trailer.
I hope this advise will help others in the same situation I am not sure too much room is comforting for some horses, this horse seems to like to be supported and now traveling well again. Keeping figures crossed all carries on going well.
