I have so far resisted rubber matting because I didn't fancy lugging really heavy mats up to clean underneath, and I would want to do that on a regular basis. Has anyone used EVA matting over a long period of time---is it hard wearing enough etc. ?? It is very much lighter and easy for one person to lift and clean. If I got them I would still be putting a decent bed down---don't agree with skimpy beds or just pee strips at the back

I've had EQUIMATS down in my stables for over 2 years now and they look as good as new and get heavy wear.
I couldn't recommend them enough, light and easy to move and clean under and great of you have change stables !! |

Well - everyone will moan but we use cow cubicle mats as easy to get, soft and warm, light enough to move for hosing off etc and never any trouble with them moving with the horses in stables. Foals will choose to sleep on mats, rather than bedding quite often. We use staw as well (at back of boxes - enough for pee patches and naps if they want) Ours have been in over 12 yrs now and good as new (but we don't have shod horses often, only fronts - not sure if that makes much difference) |

Thanks folks---interesting comments. I hadn't thought of cow mats---will now look into them. Phoenixbrucka---I googled Equimats and they are a mix of EVA and rubber, so that is very interesting that you are happy with yours. |

I have equimats in one stable and rubber in the other. I have had the equimats down for about 6 years and love them.
The rubber are back breaking to move and I am replacing them with equimats when I spring clean this year. I've had the rubber about 8 years and my back can't take any more now I've hit 30 lol.
Both of my horses are unshod now but my old mare used to have the equimats when she wore egg bar shoes and they were fine. |

I have EVA mats in my stables I don't use any bedding at all with them and my horses happily lie down on them Albeit my stable doors are permanently tied open so that they can come and go as they please, so no requirement for shavings etc to soak up pee |

I bought my Equimats in 1992 & they're still in great shape. So easy to move around & wash & so much warmer & softer than rubber.
I love the way they don't have to fit the stable exactly so they've lived on many different yards!
I have also bought Horse Comfort EVA mats for the dog kennels in our isolation unit because they're so easy to wash & disinfect & dry so quickly. |

Hi, I've used EVA matting for the past 3 years and would recommend it to anyone. The mats are 6ft x 4ft and 18mm thick, but they are surprisingly light and easy to manoeuvre when need be, single handed. I've also saved a fortune on bedding !! |
