Anyone planning to do Hale Court on Sunday? I have entered but havent done much endurance type riding recently - its been a dressage kind of a month. Also dont think we've ever done a ride by ourselves so this is a challenge. Still its only 10 miles and have ordered a myler bit for (hopefully) shorter braking distances.
Well he was very excited. It was like trying to saddle a large bewitched spinning top. He settled about 6 miles into the ride just as I was about to lose the will to live. Blimey. Hope he calms down for the next one. Someone suggested that my brand new shiny myler combination could have been done up a bit tighter. I was worried that he wouldnt be fit enough but actually I think he could have easily done 20 miles. One thing theres no doubt about though, he absolutely loved it. Here are the links to the photos for anyone who is interested http://radfoto.co.uk/20090315HaleCourt/imagepages/image460.html Thank you to the lovely lady I met riding a nice fell pony who slotted in behind Spider and kept him company for the trot home and to the organisers who arranged a very well marked course and fabulous weather.
Thanks Pauline. We are doing Duncton in just less than 2 weeks but only 13 miles building up to South Downs in April where I hope to do 20. Thanks for the bit tip. Don t think I would have held on to him in his little French link or at least I would have had sore arms and he would have a sore mouth. He doesnt stand off the myler like he does his pelham so clearly its comfortable enough.
