Hi there, I thought that I would let you all know that Jane has been in a horrendous accident which was caused by a low flying helicopter travelling up across the field where Jane's horse was grazing.

Jane tried to stop her filly coming over/through the gate but received several blows as her filly tried to come over the top of it.

Jane was airlifted to RD & Exeter hospital yesterday afternoon, where after a scan and assessment they then transferred her to Derriford Hospital in Plymouth where she under went surgery.

She came through the initial surgery well, but has suffered a fractured skull, huge cuts across her head and several other injuries.

Amanda has seen her today and Jane is talking, but will take a long time to heel after this. She will be in hospital for at least a week whilst they monitor her due to the head injuries she has received.

The first thing that Jane wanted to know is how her horse was, and other than superficial cuts and some swelling she has come though this awful incident relatively unharmed.

I know that Jane (Cookie) is a regular reader of Arabian lines and it would be great for people to send their best wishes to her.

Wishing you a speedy recovery Jane, missing our phone calls already!

Sara

Here's praying for your speedy recovery and finding a great solicitor to nail the idiot flying the helicopter so close to the ground! At the very least he should be arrested for criminal negligence.

Jane will be praying for you every day 'til fully healed! God bless you and your filly!

Get well soon, Jane. It is good that Jane remembered what happens so no brain damage; hopefully she will make a full and speedy recovery.

I know exactly what it is like (the helicopters, not the accident). A multi millionaire has bought a house (and had it turned into a mansion) at the end of my bottom field and he takes off from his huge garden and flies over my stallions' fileds giving his rich freinds joy rides. The field at the bottom of their field (15 acres) is unusable as I am too worried to put horses in there. I am currently finding out what, if any, laws there are to stop people doing this. The really annoying thing is that there is an airfield a couple of miles away for light aircraft, gliders etc. so I am sure he could use that.

I have nowhere else to put the stallions safely. Fortunately I have keepsafe fencing and although the boys go balistic they have never been hurt. Funnily enough my hprses aren't too bad with military helicopters unless they are VEY low as we are near several airbases here and they are used to large military helicopters and police helicopters flying over their fields.

If the helicopter was a military one I know they are not allowed to fly low over horse fields and the MOD have been successfully sued in the past. Well, not sure if it went to court, I think it was settled out of court, and the owners of horses who were injured/killed received compensation.

Wishing you a speedy recovery.

Barbara

Manda and Becks, so sorry Mum has had this accident, your mum Jane is tough and will come through this OK. Typical of your Mum to ask about the filly with no thought for herself. Try and keep your chins up and if there is anything we can do at Oakways, don`t hesitate to ask. Love, blessings and healing thoughts. Jane and the gang . XXXXX

Best wishes for a speedy recovery. You did what any of us would have tried to do under the same circumstances, save the horse from hurting itself. Hope you manage to track the culprits and seek damages. Glad that the filly is not badly hurt. I am sure that you will be relieved about that through your own pain.

Wishes for a speedy recovery Jane - cannot believe this has happened after Amanda had her horrendous accident last year!!! When Amanda texted me to tell me of her Mums accident I immediately assumed it was a car accident - never dreamed something like this would happen!

Hopefully she will heal quickly - come on Jane, the show season is nearly upon us and we need to see you there!!!

Lots of love
