Doing a few horse feed exams for fun! Real stuck on the recommended calcium phosphorus ratio for an older horse, think usual would be 2-1....?
few more questions might pop up if anyone is keen LOL

Hi, the requirements are normally the same for an older horse, the daily requirements is about 30 grams of calcium, 20 grams of phosphorus for a mature horse in light work, for maintenance 20 gr calcium 15 grams phosphorus.
This is taken from the merc vet manual
Aged horses (>20 yr old) may require more phosphorus than is required for adult maintenance (0.3-0.4% of total ration). Excess calcium intake (>1.0% of total ration) should be avoided in aged horses, especially if renal function is reduced.
Im currently doing a BSc equine behaviour, rehab and welfare, and glad to help if I can.
