Hi everyone,
This is a very random post, but some years ago (around 1999) my mum and I went to view two grey mares, a mother and daughter with a view to buying me a riding horse. Their names were Magic Stone and April Conjuror. We really loved them but unfortunately we only had facilities for one and they had never been separated. We felt that it was better that the owner look to find them a home together. Unfortunately I don't remember the owners name, only that she was emigrating I think to N Zealand. The mares were stabled at akenham, nr ipswich, suffolk. The oldest mare (Magic) was 10 and had COPD whilst the daughter was 5 and very green (not ideal for myself at 14). We were reminiscing the other day and I said to mum that I would ask on here as to their whereabouts as they were lovely girls and deserved a lovely home
Many Thanks and sorry for such a random and long post x

Hi, Yes I'm almost certain that those are the correct names, but I don't think we actually saw their registration certificates so I guess they may have been just stable names- they were referred to just as magic and april though. Unfortunately I don't know anymore about their breeding. Both mares were grey, april was darker and more of a rose grey as I recall, and they were both 14.3-15hh ish I think many thanks for the replies |

Spellbound saddlebreds had a beautiful grey arab mare called Magicstone. Don't know if she is still with them but the age would certainly roughly match. I bought a foal of hers. I asked if they would sell her at that time but they wouldnt. I believe they are now into breeding miniatures so not sure if they still have arabs. They are based near Diss in Norfolk. |

Thanks for that pashon, to be honest it was such a long time ago I can't be sure. She was darker as I recall, but obviously she would have very likely grown lighter with age. If it is her I'm glad to see she went to obviously a good home as both mares had very loving temperaments. Do you recall her having COPD? as she coughed quite frequently while we were there and had to be on rubber matting with no bedding. |

I just spoke to my mum to see if she could remember anything more and she said that she thought that magic was a dapple grey and slightly smaller than her daughter, if that helps at all

Magicstone lived out when I saw her, and to be honest although I saw her several times not for long enough to really know if she had copd or not. When I knew her she was almost white, but they can grey out very quickly and that would have been about 5/6 years ago. I would say from memory that she was around 14.2/3. No bigger. |
