Right now I feel like screaming and banging my head against a wall repeatedly!!
My friend who is lovely has this annoying quality about her basically she is right and you are wrong, end of!
She has decided that I have ruined Khan and that I should swap him for her 13.2hh, cause he is more suitable for what I want to do. According to her anyway. She hasn't seen me ride Khan since I got him in 2006 and being the first arab I had ever sat on, I was lost at how to ride him. (His previous owner taught me how to ride him) We have come on a lot together and Khan is now very easy to ride and listens to my thoughts before I have a chance to ask him. From what shes said I reckon shes took a liking to Khan after hearing how well were doing and now wants me to swap for her no manners bronco pony so she can have a well behaved novice pony.
She has said that when I do my training day at Pony Club she is going to come and help me I was going to say no, but with her b*tching at me at how I've ruined Khan I think I will let her tag along as I don't think the jumping instructor is going to take well to having a 17 year old girl trying to take over his lesson.
You think it would knock her down a peg or two?

I had a friend like that once, I bought Shah as a yearling and my friend told me that I wouldnt ever do anything with him (he was my first arab too) he was too much for me and I would ruin him. Ive had Shah now for 18 years, we have been at shows up and down the country, and he has done very nicely thank you. Her gelding (non arab) is now 20 - been sat on twice and never leaves the area. Just hang on in there, you know you are right!!! Georgina, Rafa and Shah xxx |

Its very similar to your story! She also doesn't do anything with hers other than in hand showing at one local show. She won't ride him cause he bronco's! Still can't work out how a bronco-ing pony would be better than a pony that will do what I want. |

"and listens to my thoughts before I have a chance to ask him..." Says it all! I would'nt take her with you as she could spoil your day! I had some 'lovely friends' when I was younger who were forever criticising me, now I realise how jealous they were. |

I certainly wouldn't take her with me. Why spend time with someone like that who clearly wants to appear to be better than you and your lovely Arab? Some (just some) people can be too competitive in the worst ways when it comes to horses and love nothing more than their 'best mate' to fail/fall off etc. I'd guess even if she didn't interrupt the lesson, she'd criticise your tutor afterwards. Go along, concentrate yourself on improvement, enjoy it as much as you can and things will get better and better!

jillandlomond Shes a great friend if it doesn't involve horses.
precious Hopefully that would be the case!
Goldenmane Yes its definitely jealousy! Her parents had the cheek to tell me that Khan would never get me anywhere, along with a man I used to work with...Will show them when we start our eventing career!
Roseanne She would interrupt, its just the way she is.
Will wait and see if she finds out about the next training day and if she doesn't I won't mention it to her! |

Oh dear,
Some horsey people just don't want you to do well. Don't listen to her you obviously know your boy.
A "friend" of mine was going on about how ridiculous I was for taking my pure bred yearling to The Royal Highland Show last year.....It wasnt the place for a youngster blah blah blah.......it wasnt the place for an "Arab" youngster......I must have a deathwish and so it went on.....
Hilariously I saw her at the show with my beautifully behaved yearling ( who won) while she was being towed about the place by a very unruly Anglo who at 26 years old was doing the veteran class (her horse was last)
Trust your instincts,

Oh i dont know how you managed not to put her straight, i had a similar situation when i bought amber, although they didnt go as far as to suggest we exchange horses, i am afraid i would probably feel the need to be sarcastic and offer to school hers up to your horses standard and feel the constant need to point out each time hers misbehaves that yours is much better behaved and would she like some tips. But thats me, and you sound much more restrained. If you enjoy your horse, no matter at what level, and you can do everything you need to then ignore the rest, true horsey people will only try and encourage and help. |

SarahA I can't be bothered in causing full on arguements about it. I just want to get her out to see how well me and Khan are doing so that it shuts her up.
Guess which one Claire....'I'm dying of liver failure' Ring any bells? Shes 'apparently' in a wheel chair at the moment...? Thats why Lisa saw her walking round town later the same day she told me! She had pneumonia before christmas as well which is why I saw her at college everyday! You would have thought she would have grew out of making it all up by now. If I wanted a bronco I would ride Tequila! |
