I use Badmintons triple crown Basefeed it's all in one all I need to do if one is needing extra energy is add thier triple top up powder oil (so much nicer than the liquid stuff) it is brill as I had a mare that was just like that one sniff and on the pounds would go but a gelding who needed to put some on, I used the same feed and it worked for both, now all are on it, they also do evenkeel with no trace of anything to fizz them up if they are fizzy horses, good luck |
Regards, Sapphire

I use Baileys lo cal and compete up to 40 miles on just this and some fiber I use Alfa oil.
All mine have this increase or decrease depending horse / pony size.

Would agree with the others that a balancer like Baileys lo-cal + alfafa is a good way to go, although if you need some cereals, D&H Lesuire mix is great for good doers & you can just increase the amount if you have somethign that needs a bit more |

Without question the best complete feed on the market is Winergy Equilibrium. Simplified my feeding no end and the horses love it, plus it's very natural, provides energy without silliness and is just all round fab stuff. |

I completely agree with loosefur Winergy Equilibrium is brilliant and have different ones for different horses, there's the conditioning one, the low energy/high fibre one, and the medium energy one . There's also a growth one for foals and broodmares! Ive used the conditioning one and my boy has done really well on it especially over his topline! |

Have a look on the Red Mills site for their Cool and Cooked. I used it last season for my horses when they didn't need to be on race mixes

I also have been very pleased with Baileys Low Cal and used it for many years for my old horse. I have been using Baileys Stud balancer together with Dengie Hi fi lite and ad lib meadow hay for my new baby since she came to me at 6 months and she is now at 21 months looking really great.
A Bailey's nutritionist came out to see her earlier this week and was very impressed with her and gave me some useful advice.
I have been giving Madam a little Linseed oil for the past month or so for extra coat shine for the summer and I queried whether I was doing the right thing as I know sometimes one can ruin the balance of things by adding various supplements and I was pretty sure this was ok but I wanted to check. The Bailey's lady said up to 100ml oil can be fed without the need for any extra antioxidants. She also recommended that Soya oil would be cheaper but a combination of both would be even better as they both have different benefits. She also said to avoid other vegetable oils as they are not so easily absorbed by horses so Linseed & Soya were the best to use. I found Soya oil quite cheaply at Tescos.
What was even more interesting was she said I could keep her on the Stud Balancer indefinitely as opposed changing to Lo Cal at two years old as there was little difference in it apart from a higher protein level which shouldn't cause me any problems. As the Stud Balancer is quite a bit cheaper I was delighted.
She is also going to come and see her again in about six months. It's really good that they will come out to look at your horse free of charge especially when you only have one horse.
So I'm pleased with Baileys Balancer's.

Badminton Triple Crown base feed is a good one as you should not need any minerals and vitamins extra.
It was very sad when Triple Crown was sold out to Badminton as the base feed is not quite as good as the original but it is still a suberb feed. The main difference is that you slightly more of the new feed than you did of the original 'Equipower'. It is so easy to use as you need nothing else except may be a top up for extra carbohydrate. |
