I have been thinking about applying for a Crabbet % cert for my filly, but don't really know if it is worth it, does she have enough % do you think? I don't want to waste their time as I know they are very pressured. All Breeds link http://www.allbreedpedigree.com/jamana
I always have in my mind that she is highish % but may be wrong? Any thoughts gratefully recieved
Helen

Hi Helen, Just had a quick glance, but I do not think that she will ad up to the 75%, but I am not so good in counting them. She has a lot of egyptian and polish in her pedigree, so that might give some crabbet as well, but I do not think that she will make it, sorry if I can not be of more help. Monique |

I don't think she'll get the 75 per cent. Shaji, Marawan and the Shah basically Egyptian and Grojec Polish.
Having said that reputedly many 'straight' Egyptians have lines that go back to Crabbet, as much as 25%, so someone with more expert knowledge might find your percentage does get to the magical 75 for the classes. |

Hi Helen, I had a look at my friends horses pedigree the other day, as she was interested to know the crabbet % for her mare & her mare's pedigree is also made up of crabbet, egyption & polish (her grandsire is also shaji & she has Seef etc). I'm no expert but I used the Figures I worked out for her, plus the percentages given on the all breed pedigree site & I'd say your mare is approximately 62% crabbet. As Pat WW said Straight Egyptions can also have quite allot of Crabbet blood, I worked out that Shaji has just over 30% & Seef has just over 46%! I'm no expert though, perhaps someone else can verify this! Claire. |

Thanks for your input, must say that I am a bit disapointed that she isn't higher %, not for showing just because I like the Crabbet's. However, i like her so i'm not too disapointed!
I think/hope she has a little bit of a 'top up' of O/Eng blood to make up for it.
Any ideas what % her mother would have been? I owned her too, so just a matter of interest,(she died in 2007) |

Hi Helen, just had a look at my scribbles & I'd say Joli was around 66% Crabbet. As you thought Jamana does have some more "top-up" Old English / GSB blood on both sides of her pedigree. As I said I'm no expert, so it'd be good if someone else could have a look & give you an approximation too! Claire. |
