I'm a newbie to this board, but I wonder if someone knowlegable could help me. We have owned our Crabbet mare Yellow Bird since she was 18 months old (she is still going strong at 33) and we bought her from Dennis Hulme at Down Park Stud just outside Crawley. We were told that she was a 100% Crabbet and I believe she is, but just wanted to double check. Her sire was Rayyan (Silver Vanity x Risseefa) and her dam was Bright Dawn (Bright Shadow x Dancing Diamond). Her full pedigree is here: http://www.allbreedpedigree.com/yellow+bird
Would love some guidance.
Here also is photo of her this summer, she is still very opinionated and likes her staff to look after her as she sees fit. She still goes out into her field at the canter and can still have a good roll all the way over, not bad for an old 'bird'!

Hi, Yep she is 100% and what a pedigree, did you ever breed from her? She looks stunning for her age. What have you done with her through the years?? Monique |

Thanks so much for confirming her percentage Lila. I must admit she is my Mum's horse although I have looked after her for quite a few years. I'm afraid she has done very little, although she did do a little bit of endurance a while back and went on a family 'fun ride' many years back starting at Epsom racecourse, I say 'family' because she went with her siblings, there was her half brother Tribesman, who I believe was Arab Racehorse of the year many moons back and also completed the Golden Horseshoe a number of times, there were also two of her sisters Bunny and I can't remember the other mare's name. I do remember however that her mother was not an easy foaler and died in birth with the foal after YB.
I wish my Mum had bred from her, I think she would have given us some cracking foals, but she just didn't want another horse. |
