Try leg wraps (neoprene type for working in) - and knee / hock / overreach boots. Tough enough to be sat on in transit but a bit more shape to them for fidgety fusspots (like some of mine!) |

Is she travelling with one of the big transporters? I ask because mine was travelled from Scotland to Kent and back again a few months later and I was advised by the transporter (well known and very good Scottish one) not to use anything. They have had far more problems with those horses wearing boots, than those not. Also bear in mind how hot the legs get when bandaged/booted on long journeys. My youngster has since gone ballistic with bandages slipping when travelling so I now know where they were coming from |

Three of ours have been imported from Germany and all travelled without any leg protections and had no problems at all. When we have tried travel boots on any of our horses they all kicked and had trouble loading. For long journeys I think they are better when things cannot come loose or restrict the circulation.
I don't use anything when they travel and we don't have any problems. I am careful on the ramps as the edges of a trailer can have seem quite sharp or rough, so if they come down the centre of the ramp I don't have a problem.
I hope that which ever approach you use, you don't have any problems |

I never travel any of my lot with boots on either. My vet told me that they see loads of injuries caused by horses panicking with them on. |

I travelled my stallion to spain in nothing, he travelled well no lumps or marks when he arrived. I thought it would be more comforable for him if he got warm. Hope this helps. |

I've travelled y mare across our Small water to the mainland, the transport company was so kind to let me travel with them on both occasions, they recomend not having boots on too, for a lot of reasons, to hot, problems if they come off, all soughts of things
I would recomend not using the boots

Hi Gerri, my mare travelled from Devon to Scotland again with a well-known, very good Scottish firm who advised me not to put boots on. Well, I was beside myself with worry but she was absolutely 100% fine! We met her in Scotland and then got the ferry with her back to Ireland. She arrived without so much as a hair out of place after a very long journey, so try not to be too worried about Milly - easier said than done, I know! |

When my mare travelled from Telford to Northamptonshire the company that transported her also said not to use any travelling boots, she got here fine, legs ok and so comfy in the transporter she fell asleep. It was one of the big ones for five horses with just her in it. So if the horse is more comfortable without travelling boots I'd travel again without them. |

When we used a transport company for a stallion they asked us to travel him completely naked - not even a headcollar! As he was the only horse in the box they also travelled him loose. He travelled very happily & arrived safely at the other end completely calm. Lisa |

Sportabac long turn out boots might be the answer , they are figure hugging and cannot slip and give protection against overreach too. Personally my preference is aleways bandages over pads . I find that horses who freak in boots (usually because they can slip and move a little ) are always fine in bandages . |

I was told by a Redwings chap not to use anything unless your horse in completely happy. Mine made it to France with clean legs and no boots - it'll be fine. |
