With great pleasure now after over two years of drumming away at the importance of expanding the research on CA by submitting samples, I am most pleased to announce the addition of an in depth article on the F.O.A.L. website. F.O.A.L. = Fight Off Arabian Lethals. Curiously the association was originally initiated through the efforts of Bazy Tankersly for the study of Cerebellar Abiotrophy and not for SCID as many people think.
So Yet Another Giant Step Forward !!!
F.O.A.L. = Fight Off Arabian Lethals
Heads Up people !!
Check out (www.foal.org ) Link on to Cerebellar Abiotrophy
Submission Forms, explicit instructions and even a current pre-signed Import Permit required to accompany samples from Non- USA territories/countries are included. Testing is being done at UC Davis in California.
Dont take the chance. Test first before breeding.

Wonderfull news, hope poeple will use it and speak openly about it, so we can handle it over the years and finely get it out permanently. At least should ALL stallions be tested.
I wish that buyers for both horses and coverings would demand, that the horse was checked for scid and now also for CA, and see an attest on it.
I will surely have mine done, the rest that is left.

Unfortunately Pat, although promised the archived thread on Cerebellar Abiotrophy is still not available for replies. Archived threads can be found only by doing a search for "Cerebellar Abiotrophy" but there is no 'reply to this topic link'
This is a true shame as the thread contains video clips of affected foals, links to in depth information, descriptions of clinical signs, addresses of clinics which are doing reseach in Europe and the USA. I simply do not have the time to rewrite and re-link all that information which has been read by 2570 viewers since 12 January 2007. It contains 3 pages of very important information.
Genetic Diseases do not disappear like apparently the threads do here at AL. How extremely fortunate for all Arabian breeders , if that could be true.
The archived CA Thread is here: http://www.arabianlines.com/forum1/topic_new.asp?ARCHIVE=true&TOPIC_ID=15689&SearchTerms=cerebellar,abiotrophy
And Called: Cerebellar Abiotrophy (CA) , A Serious Concern |
