Glad they've all arrived safe and sound Di. Love to know who's definitely in foal and who isn't, once you get that worked out. Be lovely if you had some Mastarifah babies to look forward to.
Happy that the horses arrived safe and sound.Good luck Di with them all hope for better luck for you than I had. At least it seems, that you have some helping friends over there to keep the spirit up.
Good luck to you both, on the posting they all look lovely, typical horses, the type I grew to know and love as a young person, and a type hard to find now. I am very sure that you would have no problems in finding special homes for them if you need to xxx
Athena - it appears that he left behind the mares that are in foal to him; Silver Zara Saint; Marbon Martini; and I think Binley Sala. There is a slight possibility that Mead may be in foal as she avoided Mastarifah this morning and only went to talk to Masadi - may be Melissa has told her that it is her son and Mead is Auntie. Melissa only wanted to talk to Mastarifah so I think she is probably not in foal. However, time will tell with both of them. Cantata was so shocked at this new grey stallion that makes such a terrific noise. She ran past him fast and got into her stable where she was safe.
None of the mares is definitely in foal. There is a possibility that Mastarifah was to young. We hope that Mead has taken as Diane badly want a filly out of her so also with Melissa.PERHAPS Martini and Silver Zara Saint is in foal, but they are only covered once and I am not sure.
Binley Sala is not covered by Mastarifah and NO there is no premise about breeding her,but was told that she is difficult in taking care of her foal. I will cover her with GKV Meadley and I also have some agreement with the Flowers, but that is our own business. Anything else you want to know just ask.
Sorry gunni, i didn't mean to offend . I enquired about Sala whilst i was looking for a crabbet (and ended up falling in love with Ruby before i'd seen sala!) and Pam explained her situation. I was just under the impression she must go to a performance home due to her difficulties with previous pregnancies. I must have misunderstood.....sorry Ros
Just to update you all on this thread. Mead does appear to be in foal to Mastarifah; and Melissa has me guessing still at the moment. She didn't take the journey too well and has taken time to put weight back on; but is now looking a little pear-shaped. I understand that Binley Sala has returned to Llain Arabians or is coming back to them shortly. I am struggling with all the extra work (12 boxes to muck out every day and 48 haynes to fill) without any help whatsoever - 7 days a week. Not something I was expecting to do and at my age it is not doing me any good either - there does not seem to be any arab friends near enough to me to be able to help. Unfortunately, the weather has been so bad too and my land has been flooded so they cannot go out very often; but I do have a small sand arena that they can have a roll in and stretch their legs whilst I muck out. Still January nearly over - another 3 months to go to April when hopefully we will have some grass. Di.
Oh that's good news about mead Di! Wonderful. Fingers crossed for melissa too! Sorry you're having a tough time. I think there's many of us suffering (though on a smaller scale!) this winter! Is there any way you could get help? Work experience (they could fill haynets and muck out?!). I know at Gadebrook they have WOOFERS (not exactly sure what it stands for), but they are over seas students who come over to gain experience of stud work i think. They're pretty useful. Ros
