What do you use? How many times a day do you feed? I am feeding my new filly twice a day, but on baileys recommendation of 6 cups a day of stud balancer (sounds like such a lot!) they have said feed 3 times. I'm happy to do this if this is what she needs, but it just seems a lot. She is out 24/7 with access to a bedded down field shelter and access to plenty of grass and hay. She is well grown and healthy. She's only just arrived and not eating her hard feed particularly well (not suprisingly, i'm sure she'll settle after the shock of coming to her new home). So, what do you feed yours? Ros

Hi Ros
Congratulations on your new filly
I'm not going to give any feed advice - Baileys seem to have it covered!
I am sure she will sort herself out when she is settled down!
We only feed Primero Equine TOTAL - which is a perfect feed for all equines - from foalies to oldies - so my equine feeding requirements are sorted - all from one bag of feed |

Oh, that sounds like a good option! I'll do an internet search and have a look. Do they have a website? Ros Just looked at the website. Do they all like it? I suppose they must do if they're all on it? |

Hi Mogwai,
You are feeding exactly what I do for my babies (Spillers Grow N Win or Baileys Stud Balancer are both the same type of feed) so don't worry or change a thing, I only feed twice a day as I work full time and can't get home in my 30 minute lunch break :))
You must allow your filly time to settle in her new home, this can take at least 2-4 weeks. She will be fine and eating up in no time.
Good luck x |

Thank you angel, i appreciate your support . I know she'll be ok really, it's just i think so much of her and i'm desperate to make sure everything is right for her. If it was someone else's foal i'd have plenty of advice, but because it's my own i get a bit mentally stuck . She had a really good breakfast this morning, and although she didn't eat much tea, we're heading in the right direction. Thanks for your advice everyone Ros |
