I bought an arab liver chestnut mare about 8-10 years old (dentist thinks 8 at most, but sold to me as 10) Her passport doesn't mention anything about her sire or dam or her date of birth. It does mention that she was bred in Wickham, Hants and I do have a name and address for the original owner so I'm going to try and contact them to see if I can get some more info. We believe that she could be Crabbet, but looking at her and comparing her to Crabbet mares online, but that is only a guess. Her passport is in the name of Halogen Farrera (Hallie) for short. If anyone out there knows anything about her I would be most grateful. Here are a couple of pictures of her, the first the day I bought her and the second after a bath, hence the darker coat. She has three white socks, and whirls on both sides of her neck about halfway up.
Hope the pictures work

I don't know. I bought her in Telford, but the last two or three owners hadn't transfered her into their name. The last owner on the passport does live in Southampton, so I'm hoping they got her from the breeder. |

Does anyone know about an old lady who used to breed top quality arabs in Hampshire, she died approx 4 years ago and all her horses were purchased by a young lad (who apparently went on to train with Carl Hester) who sold them on. I've spoken to the lady who used to own Hallie, unfortunately she couldn't remember the lads name or the lady who used to breed the arabs. I've learnt a lot about Hallie, she is 8, was supposedly broken when the lady bought her at 5 years old, but she had lots of problems with riding her and she wasn't convinced that she had been broken. So it gives me somewhere to start, back at the beginning with her when riding. |

Thanks for asking around. I haven't got any further. I think I will have to live with not knowing much about her. She is so lovely that it won't make any difference. I tried Carl Hester to see if he could remember a lad going to train with him from Hampshire, but he couldn't think who it could be. Thanks for your thoughts and efforts. XX |

Hi, I come from the area too and I've been racking my brains about this one and haven't come up with anything I'm afraid. Is she definitely purebred? The Carl Hester thing sort of rings a bell, but I can't for the life of me think why (must be getting old)! Can you think of any other info that might help? Out of interest how big is she? |

She is 15hh and supposed to be pure bred and was registered with AHS but her papers went missing. I've spoken to Carl Hester at Your Horse Live the other week and he couldn't remember someone training with him from Hampshire, but I suppose he has lots of people that go to train with him. We think she may have been bred by Jill Buchanan, but that is just a guess from someone else on here.
Thanks for trying to rack you brains. She was bought by a lady in Southampton, but she cannot remember the name of the person who bred her. I may call her this evening and check whether Jill Buchanan's name rings a bell or Mary Pounds name has also been suggested. |

I've been doing some digging about arab studs in Hampshire and have come up with a stud called Portsdown Arabians that has an old Wickham area code for their telephone number. Does anyone have any more information on this stud. There is a name of Jackie Ware associated with it if that helps. Thanks for all your support. |

Jackie has given up breeding Arabs now although her Mum still has some although their website has also now closed. They still own Zaneta and Kyla Jean. |

If she is only 8-ish I would have thought she would be too young to have been bred by Jill Buchanan, can't remember exactly how long since she passed away. |
